I read this today in a book:

"There is nothing like this anywhere!" said Ian
"Do you mean nothing so beautiful?" asked Alister.
"No. I mean just what I say. There is nothing like it. I don't care whether one scene be more or less beautiful than another. What I do care for is its individual speech to my soul. I feel towards visions of nature as toward writers. If a book or particular sight produces in my mind a mood that no other produces, then I feel it individual, original, real, therefore precious. If a scene or a song or a poem plays upon my heart as no other scene or song or poem could, why should it matter whether it be beautiful? A bare hill may be more to me than an exquisite garden, but I love them both. Wherever there is something that has power over my heart and soul, I do not ask whether its power be great or small; it is enough that it is a unique power, one by itself."

Sarah. You know everyone's allergies are in full swing, and we're all hopped up on sudafed.

My brain got to "asked Alister" before the medicine head took control.

Post this again, when we're not all so...dopey.

Then again, maybe it's just me.

i especially love this :

If a scene or a song or a poem plays upon my heart as no other scene or song or poem could, why should it matter whether it be beautiful? A bare hill may be more to me than an exquisite garden, but I love them both.

what book is it from?
