I am heartbroken for you, I know the pain of dealing with cancer and please know you are not alone. SO many people here care for you and are grateful for the joy your work here has brought into our lives, I know that the SISters will be here for YOU.
Take all of your time to be with Bob now. I remember when my Father went through cancer, and I cared for him, I cut back on my hours at work, which was almost impossible at the time...my husband said "You will never look back and say "Gee I wish I had worked more". Best advice he ever gave me.
Totally praying for both of you and you WILL get through this. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Researching everything does make it more scary but it also helps to be better prepared. You'll be able to know the doctors are taking the right course of treatment. Vanderbilt is a wonderful place & I know Bob will get the best care possible.

JJ,
First of all I am sorry to hear Bob (and for you, I know this is a lot to take in with the business, home and children and to just everyday challenges that you deal with daily!) and to know that you will be dealing with all of this in months to come. I know where you are coming from and also what is ahead. My dad went through all of this and I was the one who took him to his chemo and radiation and feed in through his tubes.
I too have had melanoma and was very lucky to catch mine before it got to the stage of Bob's both back in 2006 and 2007 but I know that the initial news is devastating. I write this too to let everyone know how serious this cancer is - everyone should see a determatologist once a year if not more.
JJ - I have a cousin at Vanderbilt that is a doctor there and would love to put you into contact with him asap - (He was there to help guide me through my ordeal.)
My prayers are with you, Bob and your family. I know that this can and will affect your entire family. I also know your faith is strong and that this will get you through this! I know once the shock wears off that you guys will put yourselves in the "we are going to beat this cancer" mode. Cancer stinks - this about sums it up!!
I so want to get in my car today and drive there to give you both a hug - that was my initial reaction when I read this and to tell you that everything will be okay. Keep that positive attitude, it will be important and also I think you will find that Bob will want to try to continue his life as it was before this news hit and that it may be the best medicine you have during this time. Also don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
Hugs and much love and if you need anything please let me know to include my cousin's contact info at Vanderbilt. I want to make sure you have all the tools/people to help you with this and again know that God loves you and will carry yall through this!!!!!!!! PS - Bob, you can and will beat this!!!!!

My thoughts and prayers will be with you all as well. Will absolutely be praying for the specific things you mentioned on your blog, JJ. Please let us know (when and if possible) as time passes what other specific prayers are in order. I will be anxious to know what exactly Bob needs the most as this plays out so that the prayers are specifically for his current needs.

JJ....
I read this way early this morning...like 4:30am...cuz I couldn't sleep. And, since then, I have been praying fervently for you, Bob and your family. Have faith in God. :) He will pull you through. And, sometimes, our plans are not God's plans, but everything will work out for God's glory.
I really don't know what else to say. I'm dealing with the return of cancer to my grandma, and I'm trying to do exactly what I'm telling you to do. It's hard, but there is no other way. God will continually be there for you.
I pray that everything goes as easily as possible and I ask God to cover Bob and hold him in His hand.

My heart goes out to you and your family as you all deal with everything going on right now. I just read your blog and couldn't stop the tears from welling up in me. Encourage Bob to keep smiling. It sounds like he has a strong spirit and I pray that this will help him (and your family) through the tough times ahead. God bless you all.
