Hey SISters!! I'm BACK! Actually, we got back early Saturday morning, and I started back to work on Monday but have been muy swamped with email and PMs and such but now I'm here, ready to hang and have some fun...well until I have to go back to real work again. LOL
We had a really good time at Yellowstone...well, you know how the memories are always better than the real thing? That's kind of where I am right now. LOL We spent seven full days (round trip) driving with all the kids in the Suburban, six nights in hotels, five nights in our "cabin" at Yellowstone that was literally right out of 1973 (fortunately, I love 70's decor so the yellow laminate sink rocked), 14 meals from gas stations (see, traveling through South Dakota and Wyoming on the way there and Montana and North Dakota on the way back doesn't really afford you a lot of options in the way of restaurants...I think they are the four least populated states in the whole country)...not only that but phone service is very sketchy, so contact to the outside world (and McDonald's) was VERY limited...but this was really good for me (in hindsight, of course...while it was happening I was in an almost constant state of panic).
I got some great pics, competed in our family Olympics (where I captured the Bronze medal in "Down by the Banks" but alas was eliminated very early in Simon Says). I made travel books for all 14 children that were there and a few ATCs and started my own travel journal/mini book as well, we saw lots of Bison, a bear, geysers and sulphur pits as well as beautiful lakes, mountains and waterfalls. I went to two great thrift stores in Miles City, MT (where my brother is the mayor) and Dickinson ND (where one of my sisters lives)...and basically came back to life...that was probably the best part...to enjoy the little moments again, to not be so consumed with work and all the crap going on, to really and truly enjoy my kids and my nieces and nephews, to not feel like my brain was short circuiting with all the things I am usually thinking about and worrying about...all the things that have to be done. I can't remember a time when I actually felt like there wasn't something, some task that I absolutely HAD to do regarding SIS...something that trumped everything else. So yeah, that part was really nice. :)
Now I'm back, and I'm trying to re enter the atmosphere, so to speak, very carefully. I don't know if that makes sense, but it's kind of the way you feel right after you get a colonic (yes, I have had one and it was quite the adventure...it was performed in a woman's laundry room on top of her washer and dryer, let's just leave it at that. LOL)...anyway, you just went through this whole cleansing thing and you really don't want to go and eat Twinkies...(maybe I need to buy a book on analogies and illustrations, because the ones I pull from my own life probably scare people. LOL Also, maybe the fact that I'm not at all a private person isn't always a plus, hey?)
I just want you all to know that I did miss you all, and I'm glad to be back. I'm excited about the new stuff we're working on here at the office, and super excited to head up to Chicago next week for CHA...where they DO have Internet AND phone service...the best.
LUB and peace...
