I have a rather dumb question. I LOVE creating, however, my issue is time. I work full time and I have an 8 year old. Where do you find the time and or energy to scrap? ALSO, I do not print photos at home but I have tons of photos that I would love to scrap, but I don't want them all 4 x 6 -- any tips on printing your photos in different sizes and yet having them on hand to scrap when you do find a moment?

walgreens, walmart and cvs you can email your images to them and they will print them for you, that way you can get the ones printed that you want and not have all of them. maybe that would work?

hey beautiful.....you've got to be very productive with the time you DO have....so for instance try to keep a notebook or little book where you can jot down ideas for pages/journaling/color combos/layout design in your handbag. so when you are stuck at the dr's office or in line somewhere or on the train or at a boring meeting at work...you can jot stuff down as it comes to you.
then when you get the time to sit & play w/ your scrappy stuff you will have a starting point right from the get go & a plan.
i also make a date on the calendar once a month to scrap w/ my girlfriends. that way it is written down & i can look forward to it & get all pumped up to go & hang w/ the girls. i find that sometimes if i just plan to do it myself i find a million other things to do instead (like hang out here on the message board for instance...LOL!!!!;)
also....when you get a chance to scrap....browse through your favorites album here....once you get looking at all the gorgeousness your blood will start pumping & you'll get down & dirty creating your little heart out! works EVERY time for me :)

OK - I am doing good at finding time to scrap (monthly crop night with some friends), incorporating my stamps (I am a 20 year rubber stamper now scrapbooking as well), mixing up all kinds of paper and embellishments (have always been a paper-a-holic), getting my photos printed and organized and into layouts - and mostly getting journaling added (I slack on that - need to do better).
Any advice on photographing layouts to share? I have this wonderful album - but no clue on how to best convey it digitally to share with everyone else. Lighting, camera setting, angles - any good "been there tried that" tips you can share, or should I just put it on the table, grab my trusty EasyShare (love that camera!) and start snapping away?

I went to the local craft store tonight (Hobby Lobby) and found this spiffy little album - page size is 5X8 maybe with a nice brown cover - and I realized a little while ago that I'm sick of looking at my photos on this computer -
And after reading all this great advice I'm ready to kick start!!
I'm a stamper so I have lots (and lots and lots) of toys to play with...maybe I'll even upload something!
Thanks for the inspiration. (and Siany, layouts of you are great! don't give those up!!!)

Okay, I am SO glad you started this one Big SISter...Man, I love scrapbooking, and since I knew this site was coming I've spent way too much money on cards, stickers and all kinds o goodies...but my questions are: 1. wth is hambly? I am seeing so much of this and I have NO CLUE what it is...I think I saw it on one of the webisodes, but there is info overload in my brain rite now, lol. And 2. I see that everyone talks about all the different tings they scrap with, magazine pieces, plumbers tape?-and I thought that everything used was supposed 2 b acid & linguin free or whatever...That was ingrained in my head when I started scrapping a few years back. But now Im confused!!!Please help, thanks!!!! O and to anyone having trouble getting started or with pp (which I figure 2 b patterned paper, lol) I just look around on the 'net, and this site is great for it, just for ideas, and then, let loose, it's art, you can't go wrong, and use as few or as many pieces of paper or stickers/stamps, you want, the possibilities are endless!!!!

OK, and I have one - if you're not married, not kids, no pets, what kind of things do you scrap about? I just love taking pics!! And this 6X12 size sounds really interesting?
I once scrapped about cherrytomatoes and basil, how weird is that??!! It was a contest in which you had to make a LO where you would find the word cherry. As you can imagine, most be people came up with "ordinary" cherries, I just gave it a twist (it's in my portfolio)

the me stuff is the funnest! lol, I scrap about other people's kids, lol, my sisters', my friends', my boyfriends brothers', etc. lol, I saw the cutest little kid on the street the other day with a cool outift, too bad I didnt have a camera, although, I wouldnt have the guts to ask his 'rents if I could take his pic, and would feel like a weirdo taking some random kid's picture, lol, but, old family pix are fun to scrap with as well...But as I began, the ME stuff is definitely the funnest! It's journalistic and creative!

I'm going to highly recommend www.ScrapbookPictures.com. THey seriously ROCK. Every size of picture available, a bunch of fun overlays, fast shipping (and always $2!) ~ and their customer service is amazing. Seriously ... they're fabulous!!
ETA: Not sure why my link isn't working! I'll just take it out...

I have the same issue. I work 40 hours (sometimes more) plus I travel frequently. The one thing that helps me is leaving my supplies out and in place. My mother bought me this wonderful card table from Target that I have set up in my living/dining area. As I get 10 minutes here or there, I cut paper, put together my embellishments, mat my photo, etc. When I feel like I'm all done (sometimes it's a day or two later! lol!), I glue it all down. And voila!
Hope this helps you!

So here's another problem, I have just started scrapping. I love so much about it, the connection to other women (and a few men), documenting my family's life, the act of creating and all of the amazing products, so that's not the problem, my problem is I get so jazzed and excited about a lo and let it percolate in my brain for a while, then I try to convey it on paper and it doesn't translate. I have a creative streak, but I am not incredibly crafty or artsy. I look at everyone's work here and it intimidates me more. I keep thinking that if I just get one more product, I'll do the pages of my dreams. I don't know if my husband would think that is such a good idea. Any suggestions about how to get over this scrap-anxiety?

When this happens to me, I usually just pick 4 items from my stash and make a page about anything. My 4 items are usually 1 patterned paper, 1 piece of matching cardstock, diecut letters or letter stickers/rubons, and 1 raised embellishment like ribbon or buttons or flowers. Simple page, no stress! Anxiety gone!

Hi. I've got a question for the pros. I see lots of SISters giving credit for their materials on their layouts, and while I understand why, and appreciate it, how important is it to give credit if we're doing it for the sheer pleasure and NOT trying to get something published? I ask because I am a real mix & match type, and I often lose track of what's what. Should I pay more attention?? Thanks so much!

I think they do that so that if someone sees something that they like, they know what it is in case they want to purchase it.

I have a ton of questions but I'll start out small with just a couple. :)
My biggest problem is not lack of inspiration believe it or not, I have tons of ideas...I just don't know how to get them onto the page!! I mainly suffer from lack of product, but I don't know where to start shopping. I walk into my LSS and go into overload mode and freeze up. So then I just don't talk to anyone, buy one magazine so they don't think I'm a total weirdo (this has happened on more than one occasion) and get out like the place is on fire. What to do, what to do??
My second biggest problem is that I can't cut evenly or straight to save my life. I see all these LOs that talk about hand cutting this or that - how do you do it?

Nicole, I think you and I are kind of in the same boat, except, I have NO problems in the scrapbook store. I can easily counsel you on shopping. Try a Hobby Lobby or Micheal's they are so much bigger and you don't have to feel like they are watching you shop there. I also look on the internet a lot at papers and stuff to get ideas for what I like, then when I go to a store, I look for those lines (you can also just order from them directly) I like scrapbook.com. I hope this was somewhat helpful:) The cutting issue tends to be a problem for me too, so I can't help you with that one.

purpleflowergrl I think we share a similar problem. I have no problem showing off my digital layouts but I am so uncomfortable with my paper ones. I look at everyone else's work and feel like mine is not quite it or something or who only knows. I also never seem to finish my layouts - I always have an empty spot for my journaling.

Scrapbook Pictures looks like such a sweet deal.. I searched around the site a bit but can't tell if they ship outside the US (aka to me in Canada) for 2 dollars only as well. If they do then that is pretty darn sweet!
I have issues trying to photograph my layouts in order to post them as well, anyone have any tips for that? I wish I had my scanner here and working!

shoney58-- I have a hard time scrapping because I don't have kids (just got my cats), and my better half is also a scrapper! We have 1 book after almost 3 years together because it was quite a task to scrap everything we wanted into 1 little book. But alas, I have been able to figure things out to scrap...I scrap the annual parade that we go to, since we are in Chicago we go to festivals weekly during the summer, I scrap pretty much any picture that I take of nature and trees, and I have books showcasing my pics. who cares what they are, if I know, I want that "memory" to go on after I am gone.. :)
