Okay, I'm ready to do my first lo. I have my kelli Crow collection. I know this is so dumb, but what do I do first? Can someone walk me through the basics step by step?

Bonjour!
someone told me once to have fun was the more important.

Maybe try one LO by respecting some few scrap rules, and make another by breaking them, compares, mix, try another thing...
you'll tell us!

have fun!

you never scrapped before and you are starting with a Kelli Crowe kit? IM ENVIOUS!!! My first was daisy d's and parlised card (not a great start!)

OK... choose a picture, think of what that picure reminds you of and what happened that day. What was the feeling, how was tha person, the sights the smells. remember every ounce of that moment.

And feel your way into scrapping it. tear, cut, curl your paper until you have something resembling your art.

stick it down, scan it and upload here so we c an see it!

KKKirsty is absolutlely right about just where to start.

After that, look at the "strut your stuff" pages, find one you like, and then do the same with the papers you have, perhaps substituting a certain patterned paper or colored paper with one of your preference.

You'll need some cardstock (thicker weight paper, usually solid, but KC's papers are cardstock weight, too, I've heard - haven't gotten mine yet) for the background. It's sturdy and will support everything else you put on the page.

You'll need adhesive - I like the red "duck" adhesives I get from Wal Mart in the office/school supply aisle. You can use a glue stick, double sided tape. Just make sure everything is "acid and lignen free" so it doesn't turn your photos colors over time.

And then you'll need a few basics like scissors, a ruler, a fine tip marker, maybe a craft knife and mat.

After that it's all icing - but, baby, do we ever LOVE the icing! :) (Just check out some of the many online scrapbooking websites for oodles of supplies.)

Kupkake is right!
when I began, I had uggly stuffs, (when I remember, lol) as I had not a lot of choice near where I lived, and not a lot of money.

You're lucky!!!

maybe if you can have some non-sticky scissors, it could be great, as cutting some adhesive things and after washing the scissors has never be my cup of tea!!! and a cutting mat. great thing for knife things and not cutting your desk! lol

bwahahah!!!

You are all so dang helpful. Thank you so much. Although I've never scrapbooked, I am a framer and so have many tools, such as adhesives, blades, mat cutting boards and equipment. I do feel fortunate to be doing my first lo with Kelli Crowe. I came up with a brilliant idea right before church this morning that I can't wait to show and share. I'll be sure and post my KC collection #1 scrapbook page as soon as I finish it. Thanks again.

Okay, I played with my collection a little. I am a framer and wanted to see how the papers would work with traditional framing. It's in my layout because I haven't figured out how to link my lo to my posts. It's called Grandma. I will next attempt an actual scrapbook page and will post as soon as I get it done. This is a truly inspiring site - a little overwhelming with all the creative ideas spinning around in my head.
