i'm looking at some poeple's layouts and they seem like they are made to the point that you would lose some stuff if you stuck it in a normal album, with the brads or way the paper is folded.
so do ya'll put your layouts in a normal 12x12 or 8x11.5 album from the store??
because thats my biggest problem..is that the page is too thick for the page protector.

the only ones i have to "force" into the page protectors are the once that i use cardboard for the base as it is never cut quite to the right size. but i don't use a ton of embellishments so i may not be answering your question.......

nah, unless you are using like the thickest ever embellies, you should be fine. I squeeze them in my 8.5 x 11" page protectors w/no problems :)

i have never had a problem fitting mine in normal page protectors but i really don't think that i use alot of stuff that would cause a problem.

Ditto.. I scrap 12x12. Even with my cardboard pages.. I can still do 2 layout per page protector.

Alot of times I hang stuff off the page or put a fold out element on the page. When I do those things I just cut the page protector to expose the minibook, or make a slit in the side so the stuff can hang out the side.

My problems making them fit are when I trim down a 12 x 12 for my 8.5 x 11 and don't quite get it right...
A good friend is the embellishment queen and her layouts are phat! (Read, bulky but beautiful!) She shoves them in fine, but probably gets fewer in the album in total. I personally like the sleeker look, but thats the thing, hey? We each have a different style, and she loves the bulky.

yeah, i love the look of bulky, the ones with all the stuff hanging out, but that is more of a mini with no protectors.
i jsut can't seem to get the bulky to look good haha

I have tried putting thicker embellies on the OUTSIDE of the page protector (I either use supertape or glossy accents or sewing/handstitching to keep things in place).
Sometimes if you trim 1/8th of an inch off of the side of your paper you can fit a little thicker stuff in there.

Okay, I have been wanting to get a three ring binderish scrapbook for the longest time... and I just don't know where to look. But I hate using page protectors cause I like to have all that texture out in the open, ya know?

I only use three ring binders. Tried the post bound and went nuts rearranging new pages in them. I get mine at local SS, they are Linen covers or leather covers, not cheap but easier to use and prettier. I do use a cheapo vinly working album from Michaels or HLobby to hold new layouts till they go into their correct album. I have nine three rings and find the Close to My Heart page protectors work well. Also, page protectors vary in size a tad, so I take one to the store to get right size.

I have one that I used raw chipboard in the American Crafts 3 ring binder and then glued/tape the LO to the chipboard. It's just you gotta be careful with it! So I limit which ones I put in there.

My Lo are bulky -- that is just how I scrap - and yep i shove them in the protectors and yep my albums are bulged and "hinky" but i love them. My kids love opening them and even my DH. So....bulky works for me.
