I just spent 1.5 hours making this new recipe.
My kitchen is a DISASTER.
My sink is full because it took like 3,962 pots and pans to make the thing.
PLUS I spilled pureed squash all over the floor.
And I just sat down to eat and...
It sucks. It's HORRIBLE. It's probably the worst thing I've ever eaten, and I once ate an ant on a dare.
I'm so mad+frusterated at all the time wasted to make this disgusting food when I totally am working late tonight anyways and could have gotten in quite a bit of making out during that time I was tenderly cooking the chicken.
Someone please pass me a pan of brownies and a cream soda.

i thought it would be so good.
Freakin Jessica Seinfeld.
First you give us The Bee Movie.
Then this terrible recipe.
I don't believe you cooked this, Mrs. Seinfeld. I think you must have a chef. Who lost their taste buds in a sad pureeing accident.

I think that you are onto something here! Don't give up though. This is exactly the kind of thing that ultimately makes you a better cook! Take this experience and learn from it and you will have more knowledge behind you for the next time. Chin up, KA! :0)

Okay. Cooking Lesson Learned: This recipe was terrible. Never use it again. Sucks to you, Jessica Seinfeld!
P.S. I don't know what "sucks to you" means. I just read it in a Sophie Kinsella novel. Which makes me think it must be a British phrase. Can a Brit please translate that into American for me? I've got crumpets for you!

ooohhhh....I've tried a couple of Jessica Seinfeld's recipes, and have not been too impressed. I do like the concept, and may try purees in some of my recipes, but it will be awhile before I try another out of her cookbook!

That truly sucks when it happens... if I had some brownies, I'd give you some...not all of them, I would eat at least one corner piece first. ;) ~kim

do you have that brownie pan that's shaped like an M so every piece has an outside? MMM. i want it.
also, do you taste as you go? because seriously...this has helped me SO much in saving dishes. plus, learning my spices and seasonings has really helped me save stuff too. last, i'd bet good hard money that jessica seinfeld does not regularly cook their meals. if i had her money, you can bet your tassles i wouldn't.

KA- I always found the best recipes came from friends and family. If I ate something they made and loved it, I'd ask for the recipe. That's what I stick with.
Need any really good recipes? Let me know. It's another hobby of mine. I also crock pot too....so only one pot to clean up.

Peg's Italian Chicken and Potatoes
4-6 boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 regular sized bottle Italian salad dressing (I use Walmart brand) 1 jar grated parmesan/romano cheese (I use 4-C in glass jar) 6 red skinned potatoes; wash and cut into quarters...(no need to peel this type of potato). 1 small bag baby carrots
Spray Crock Pot with cooking spray first. Place chicken in bottom of crock pot. Sprinkle with half Italian dressing, and the grated cheese. Place potatoes and carrots (leave as is) over chicken. Sprinkle with remaining ingredients.
Cover; cook on low 6-8 hours.
*Can also substitute a Pot Roast in place of chicken. YUM!!!

Are you talking about Jessica Seinfeld's Deceptively Delicious cookbook? I have a freezer full of pureed veggies going to waste. I had good intentions but the stuff isn't that great and I just didn't follow through with all that cooking PLUS FORCING my kids to eat it. I like the choc chip cookies with chickpeas though - they are good. The sweets and muffins arent' bad but chuck the rest. And I don't care what anyone says - tofu is GROSS!

i have realized that anything in her book sucks. and she always says in there "my kids LOVE this recipe"
your kids must not be human jessica. cause this recipe sucked. and there's no way in h-e-double hockey sticks that my kids would ever eat this. or my husband. and he eats everything.
ugh, KA...i so feel the pain.

sorry KA - that sucks. I truly believe if you have to slave away for over an hour in the kitchen, it's too long especially if you are not enjoying it. Also, hiding vegetables in food makes no sense - just get kids to learn how to like them - find veggies they enjoy, done.
And if you can't they have yummy tasty veggy vitamins that can make you feel better.
What happens the first time her kids have a delectable brownie without hidden veggies - that is the last time they are going to eat her brownies.
I highly suggest cooking classes, just the basics - made a world of difference for me and I was a good cook before. I went from needing to follow recipes to being able to make something by looking at what I have on hand. Tasting things and knowing my spices.
But I feel your pain, I have a sink full of dishes calling out my name.
