i'm open to ideas, suggestions, themes, anything else?

any questions about the swaps?

did everyone see my new flaker policy?
****i've been reading your feedback from other swaps and i understand the frustration on the part of swappers who work hard to get their cards in by deadline and then have to wait another month on the slackers so that is why i will be enforcing the due date.
at the same time i understand life happens and if you have to back out please let me know asap so that i can find you a replacement. if you don't and you don't get your cards in on time i will have to ask you not to join anymore swaps and i will be listing your username on a flakers list. not to be mean but just to encourage no flakers

also! very important!!!

unless you use delivery confirmation and can supply me with a traking number i can no longer accept "they're in the mail" as an excuse for late/lost cards. delivery confirmation allows me to track your package and confirm that it indeed was mailed and lost in shipping, in which case we will allow you to make up your cards if you choose too.
DO NOT mail them out on the due date and expect me to wait an extra week. please don't put me in that position where i have to say no.

international girls, i realize you can't send packages to US with delivery confirmation so please be sure to send your cards at least 10 days early. if your cards get lost in shipping or take over 10 days, i will give you the benefit of the doubt once.

so......... let's discuss

sounds good....I have to say, though, that I am taking a break for a bit...I often sign up for too many, forget about them, and then rush and spend TOO much oney on QUICK shipping only then for someone else to take an extra month getting theirs in. I'm going to stop and smell the roses for a bit and not put myself (and others!) through stress and frustration...I think it's a great idea, though, Stacey, and OMG- I owe YOU a card! *See what I mean? ;)

And Stacey- It's seriously been in the bottom of my purse for probably a month. You can put me on the flaker list- I totally AM one!

*I love your new policy, and considering that I have flaked on swaps in the past, I am hoping that I have "fixed" that issue and don't end up on your list!!! I am happy I have FedEx when I need to overnight something because I couldn't make it to the Post office!!!!

Plus, the delivery confirmation thing makes perfect sense since I have really truly lost my fair share in the mail!! Mostly going to Canada which drives me bonkers, but when I used to send from Chicago, there were always stupid problems like that!!!

as for new suggestions and themes, I would love to see another alphabet swap...even though I think we have done 40 on here, another can't hurt!!
also, what if we did a branded theme swap...such as...all 7 gypsies, basic grey, etc. not sure if that would be too dull though, but I would love to have a fabulous collection of 7 gypsies ATC's from the talent here!!!

okie doke...I have had too much caffeine today...this is why my message seems all spastic.
xoxo

exactly and when you pay that extra and then i end up waiting another 2 weeks on someone else that's totally unfair to you. see what i mean?
this is why i have to get strict. to make it fair. because i want tons of swappers and i don't want anyone unhappy

how 'bout a bling swap? sparkles, glitter and the like....(-: ditto with the 'flowers' - i have so many stinkin' flowers and never use them on layouts....(-: and i think you new policy is great, and long over due. although i'm a little scared of you now....

Stacey.
You and your hard core policy are beaut.

I love your ATC swaps. I must say the ones that are a bit more "general" in category are faves with me - easier to put together.

I'd LOVE to do a blinged out/sparkle/glitter ATC swap though - that'd be fun.

OH and on the hard core policy...

I have found when I have run a couple of swaps I have done the following, and we ended up with no flakers, so maybe it is worth a try...

1. Each person has to PM the moderator their private email address and "real" name info.
2. the moderator sends out a welcome email, listing everyone and advising the due date, and also including a link to the SIStv forum thread.
3. THe email also includes a time line for postage cut off's - for example the date 10 days before due for internationals, X days before due for stateside etc.
4. Each person MUST CHECK IN WEEKLY on the thread with an update on where they are at.
5. Each person MUST POST on the thread when the send their items off.
6. THe moderator keeps track of the goings on, and kindly chases people who are behind.

Just an idea anyway lovely SF.

i like the suggestion. it may be brutal to be on the 'flaker' list but it should motivate people to mail in their atc's in a timely manner as well as give incentive for people to perhaps not sign up for more than they can handle.

So is it better to not hostess and just let you do it? Just trying to sound this out. If I hostess a swap can I borrow your hardline flaker policy? I like what Lalalee said...I have just set up a special email account specifically for swapping so participants can email me the info she mentioned and I can keep track of them.

I had been thinking of doing an "Iron Chef" type of thing with my vintage swap I want to do....not that we will eat the ATC's but give something that everyone has to use on their ATC's and then let them go from there.

Okay, a bit chatty here but I love swapping and I love doing ATC's. At first it was hard for me to wrap my head around the idea of making them. To me art had to be "useful." But I made my first ATC's for myself just to try it out and I did years/era's....and on the back of them I put pics of family members that lived during that time...like WW1...a picture of my Grandmother's favorite Uncle in his uniform just off to the war. Helped me get started. Now I love them!

that's not what i'm saying at all. i'm just saying that SIS nor I can be liable for all of the various swaps going on here so join at your own risk

i used to keep a seperate blog in order to try to keep up with everyone but the point of having the official SIS swaps was to keep everything centrally localized.
i tend not to use my PM box because it slows my computer down, however if you ever have any questions or concerns you can email me at staceyfike@yahoo.com
i do like some of these ideas but hopefully the flaker list will be enough to keep everyone in check

I love it! I've really stopped swapping on here at all due to all of the flakes. It's very frustrating.

I'm working on starting a circle journal since I've just missed the last couple on here. Maybe all the swappers could get on Stacey's train and we start a master flaker log and work out some rule of redemption for getting off of it once you get on or something :D

I've not been here long, but it looks fairly safe so far. Hopefully I'll avoid the flaker flame and not get burned.

So recently I figured out what an ATC was and I have been frolicking through the threads and looking at examples. It looks like whole lot of fun! And I was thinking, if it hasn't already been done which I am sure it has..... Famous Movie Quotes. Like I would love to do some quotes from my fav comedies Monty Python and the Holy Grail "Tis but a scratch!" or Spaceballs "They've gone to plaid." It would also be super cute to do famous romance movie quotes...... just a thought. I might be off target or like i said someone already thought of it. But it sounded cool

i am a fan of your flaker policy Stacey. i hve gotten swaps in the mail that were so late i had forgotten about them. go you.

would it be fun to do a technique swap? you could do any technique, like painting, stamping, whatever. i think i got this idea from the May ATC swap with the textures...
