Well, with the expense of Australia shipping etc, I'll leave it for the participants to speak up if they really don't want to deal with the expense. I know it is more costly but if we try and rotate who we ship to, it buggers up the circulation. So when I email everyone next week who is in the group, you'll have a chance then to speak up and say directly whether or not you are prepared to take on an int'l shipping destination. Remember that our int'l players will also be taking on the same expense so it does all work out in the end.

Personally, I'm happy to take on an int'l shipping destination since I already have so much scrap stuff, I won't need to buy anything for anybody's journals.

Scrapwitch, there's still room. Email me so I've got your contact info for next week's official kick-off email at info@lotuspaperie.com

Well if you mail it overseas it makes sense that we send to each other internationally before the journals head back to your part of the world *lol* that way not to many of you need to ship int'l!

Ya, I was thinking about how to maximize our shipping dollar. I totally suck in geography so I'm gonna have to dust off my map o' the world to make the shipping plan.

I mean, really it's going to cost at most around $20 to ship and we'll likely be doing that once a month right?? I can plan for that. I think we all can.

But we'll deal with that stuff later.

What is the turn around time when shipping to and from Australia?

not sure...I'll have to look into that. Do any of you Aussie players want to answer that?

Oh, ladies, I'm at a scrap retreat for the weekend so don't fret if I don't comment for the time being. I'll be back Monday.

If anyone else wants to join, there's room and just email me with your request to join at info@lotuspaperie.com

I am happy to ship internationally as well! As tati said, I also like getting stuff from from far away for sure! I was just sort of thinking aloud about rotating who we send to, so that instead of sending to Australia 10 times I might just do it 2-3 (and I'm just using you Aussies as an example, I know there's other international girls playing!). If we include a list with the journal stating where it's supposed to go next, I don't see why it wouldn't work?

that said, I have never done this, and it's your swap Lotus, so your rules rule :)

So I guess we could alternate who we ship to but I think that's overcomplicating things...I like simple, myself so I think we'll just stick to mailing to one person. I think we'll close this swap to new members now and sometime today or tomorrow, I'll consult my map and figure out who's gonna mail to whom and I'll email the circulation list and details later.

I'm back from my retreat (dare I say I'm all scrapped out!) and my son's birthday is tomorrow so things will be busy for the next 48 hours...bear with me if my attention to this thread is a little off & on...If you really need to talk to me, email's your best bet. info@lotuspaperie.com

Looking forward to getting started!!

I am really excited about this swap. I know that postage, as always, is an issue but I hope that won't factor in too much.

I've seen great themes like
-what's in your purse
-hopes & dreams
-bucket list
-confessions

there's a million things to choose from. I haven't checked the gallery here but try that and see what kinds of themes come up. IF that doesn't pan out, try searching mini albums or theme albums...that's bound to yield great results.

How's everyone doing?
I'm almost done with my journal! I hope it's ok that you all do a double page? Or are we supposed to do one page only?

I was thinking the same thing, but my journal is small (6x6) so it shouldn't be too hard to fill a spread...

when you say you're 'almost done' could you explain a little about how you are setting it up exactly? This is my first time doing a swap like this, I need a little help, please!

Is it ok to post pictures in my blog? I am not done yet but will be in less than a week - and I will send then. I am enjoying this so much! Shall we make a real thread for this?

I have used thin chipboard for my pages - they are 8 x 6 I have gessoed all of them (so they're white and sturdy) I've created a sign in page. Now I am working on my own pages for the journal and the felted cover for it... The pages you are doing are oposite each other so a good tip if you think the pages might stick a little put wax paper in between (if they stick alot - you need to dry them extra) - wax paper is great for that.

I would love to see pictures! Thanks for sharing your process, it helps! How about the instruction page, how detailed are you being there as far as directions for what you want people to do on their pages?

Since my cover is felted I will print my instructions on fabric and stitch it to the inside cover.
I will just say alittle about why I chose the theme, that I would like you to sign in and do a spread in the journal... I will also be sure to make something with my name and adress on it so that if it gets lost - it can get home...

I am quite excited about this. I am haven't yet found the album I am wanting so I am going to send my pages in page protectors. I am hoping you all don't mind doing a double page 8x8 LO.
I have the cover and sign in pages complete. I now have to do my own pages.
I am so excited!

Hey everyone...sorry I haven't been responding to your inquiries, I assumed that since not all of us participating are from SisTv, that we'd communicate via email...I will address each of your queries individually...

I hope it's ok that you all do a double page? Or are we supposed to do one page only?

answer: this is your journal, you set the rules (but be nice! don't insist we make 10 layouts or anything crazy like that!)

Is it ok to post pictures in my blog?

answer: you can definitely post pictures to your blog, but I've also set up a Circle Journal Flickr Group for us but you have to be one of the participants to upload to the group. Please email me if you are having trouble. I have noticed that not everyone has joined the group yet...

when you say you're 'almost done' could you explain a little about how you are setting it up exactly? This is my first time doing a swap like this, I need a little help, please!

answer: Each album is set up differently. For example, my album has a cover (of course) which has been decorated to suit my theme. Then I have the first page say something about the direction that my theme is hopefully going to take in each person's layouts. Next, I have a couple of small pages that outline the specifics of my theme (as far as how I want the pages to be done - ie. quantity, size, materials to be used, etc) To see the albums that are uploaded to the Flickr Group so far...

How many people are we officially!

answer: In total, we are twelve. Most of us are on Sis, but some players joined via my blog but I think have joined Sis since then. Not everyone is on this thread (for the same reason) so if you need to get the word out on something, email is the best way. All of us were sent the last copy of everyone's contact info including emails so use that info to communicate with whomever you need to (I'm not on here all the time either, obviously! Gosh, it took me a while to revisit this thread, sorry!) If you don't have a copy of everyone's contact info, email me and I'll get it to you.

Remember, today is our first mailing deadline!!! Don't forget to use the 1 week shipping (our shipping time allows for 2 weeks because sometimes international post sucks) and don't forget to use a service which includes $100 insurance (buy the insurance if it's not included....Murphy's Law is a funny thing!)

If you ever need to reach me urgently, email is always your best bet. info@lotuspaperie.com

Hope that took care of your questions and concerns! Phew! I'm pooped now! LOL
