I'm looking for a bunch of circle journal participants who are serious about completing the circulation. You can email me at info@lotuspaperie.com if you want to play or you can comment on my blog if you have ideas, suggestions or other input you wish to share. I will publish the list of participants on the blog in the next few days so get in on it while there's room.

Can't wait to see how many of you join in on the CJ Fun!!

Its a great idea, and tons of fun, most likely people have just been burned too many times. I know I have a few and now Im more careful who I join with!

I've been burned too...that's why I'm trying to get a good group of serious CJ gals...they're so much fun to receive in the mail, I figured if I tried hard enough, we could get some serious artists (rather than flaky wannabe's who just don't "get it")

That's awesome everyone...I appreciate your optimism. IF we all promise not to bail on each other, we should end up with some kick-ass albums. Start considering themes for your albums. We'll firm things up once we have a few more players.

Thanks for being optimistic :)

What size of journal do we make? And we each have our own theme right?
I would like to make my journal "Home" so that everyone makes something from their town!

How many do you have and also what will the time frame be for each book?

Thanks for the info -

It will depend on how many of us there are. Because we're including our international scrap friends, we'll have to be a bit flexible with shipping times/delays. I'd like to mail them every 2 weeks so it doesn't drag out too long.

I'm open to thoughts on this.

please keep in mind when you are choosing your mini album that these bad-boys can get pretty heavy near the end and shipping will increase so let's try and keep the size no larger than 8x8.

I never did a circle journal before but it sounds like fun!!!
What are the "rules" for a CJ, so I know how it works and can join you!

What are the "rules" for a CJ, so I know how it works and can join you!

Okay, here's the scoop...
You select an album (8x8 or smaller) and a theme. You embellish your opening page however you like, including what you want from each contributor (photos, journaling, whatever). I will compile the list of players and assign everyone a "mail to" person. Some of our players are international so be prepared for extra shipping costs to ensure a timely delivery (if this is not realistic for you, let me know and I'll make sure you aren't given an int'l person to ship to). You will receive a different album every few weeks and once you've made your pages, you send it to your "mail to" person. You will always send out to the same person until your album returns. Everyone is expected to communicate with me & your mail-to person if you have delays or problems so we can help you figure it out. Do not join if you think you might have trouble keeping up. Most of us have been in CJ groups and not gotten our journals back. This is inexcusable, rude and will not be tolerated.

We will use a quick & insurable method of shipping. Everyone will agree to pay for a shipping method that takes one week or less (feel free to use super quick shipping) and they will also agree to pay for $100 insurance. We'll be using the postal system during the holidays so let's cover our butts (and our albums).

I want this round of CJ's to be a huge success so we can run it again. C'mon guys, let's see who is up for it!!!

I want to try and reach no fewer than 10. I want to ensure that we have enough people to make the albums kinda full-ish. It's no fun having books that aren't very full. So I'll leave the invitation open for a little while.

One thing, though... I would opt for about 6 weeks for each CJ in hand. Any less than that is really not enough time, in my opinion... receiving it... looking at it... getting your idea together... gathering the materials... working on it... packing and shipping it...

We are almost there. We have 10 players. I was hoping for a few more so that the albums were rather full-ish but this will do.

Jacqueline80, I dont' know if you emailed me yet but can you please so that I can include you in the email list?? info@lotuspaperie.com

Everyone think about your themes over the weekend. We'll hammer that out next week.

If you want to join, its not too late...email me to get in on the action.

I am interested, what is the turn around time?

I saw your comments about 6 weeks. I think that may be too long for some of the others. I think that the group may lose steam if we make it that long so it'll be more along the lines of 3-4 weeks. We'll confirm that once we have our group committed. I can add you to our list and once the details are worked out, if it isn't going to work for you then you're welcome to change your mind...email me if you are interested in going that route...

Sounds good, thanks... I don't think 3-4 weeks will work for me. Inevitably some holiday falls within every month that causes things to back up a little, then the mailing, and the creating, and purchasing what I need for the project... it's just a little too rapid of a pace for me. But, let me know what you decide.

also, motherkearney, we'll all have a master list of everone's themes so we can start planning for them right away. All the albums are going to be 8x8 or smaller so those details should help you with your photo planning. Also, I suggest that everyone decide on a photo of themselves that they like for the sign-in pages and get enough printed at the beginning so they're on hand when each album arrives.

you know, I'm happy to do this with internationals, but I'm wondering if to keep costs down, we can rotate who we send to. That way we're not always paying for shipping to, say, Australia :), AND (this ia a big bonus) we get to see a wider variety of people's work. That, after all, is one of the great perks of circle journals, no?
