I've just got a new camera {Nikon D60} and my niece's 2nd birthday is coming up in a couple weeks. I took tons of photos at her first birthday and am so excited to shoot her 2nd one with my new camera.

I was wondering if any of you could offer tips/advice for shooting a child's birthday party. It's going to be outside at the same park we had the last one... and I have gotten her the cutest outfit to wear. I just want to be able to really capture this one better than the last.

Here are a few of my pics from last year's party...I'd like some advice on what I could do better, and what I am missing..

Thanks for your help!

I think the photos you got last year were fab!

All I would suggest is that as your camera is new to you, try and have a trial photo session to play with all the settings so by the day of her birthday you know exactly what your camera can do.

You did a good job. I love how you zoomed in - especially the bracelet. I like to get candid family pics (it's fun to see how we've "grown", too!) and sometimes photos of items to show the location like in the park area to help keep the memory of where we were.
