Okay, I am sure there is a FAQ around here somewhere but I sure can't find it - LOL
Feel free to answer one or all, ANY help is appreciated.
Is photoshop the most common thing to use for digi?
Where is the best info (esp. for a very inexperienced PS user) to get started digi scrappin? Is PS the best thing to use and which version do you like?
What is the advantage of digi over paper? I feel like I have so many more creative options with paper...prove me wrong!
I usually use PUBLISHER for other creations and am a big fan of that...anyone use THAT for digis?
How long do your digi LO's take (approx)
Do you print or just store on PC or SIS?
If I DO DIGI, get PS, etc. - what are the best digi sites to get stuff from?
And finally, if I DO go digi...where can I sell my paper? LOL
Thanks so much!

**I have only been doing digi since about February or so...
Is photoshop the most common thing to use for digi?
yes, the extremem photoshop ($$) is te CS2 or CS3 version but I purchased the photoshop elements 6.0 (less $$) and it works just fine and does great- i do know that i have heard you can do some work in microsoft word if you have that- also, scrapblog.com is AWESOME!! try it out there first
Where is the best info (esp. for a very inexperienced PS user) to get started digi scrappin? Is PS the best thing to use and which version do you like?
ka on SIS has posted a few "how to" tutorials on how to get started and you can even google how to make a digi layout and come up with lots. jessica sprague (google) has classes that you can purchase and everyone i have talked to swear by them- you will learn everything you need to know & i use PSE 6.0 (but really try out scrapblog.com before you buy to see if you like it)
What is the advantage of digi over paper? I feel like I have so many more creative options with paper...prove me wrong!
you can sit in one place and create a layout, even in front of the tv- no adhesive, no paper scraps, all in your computer & you can download MANY, MANY FREE kits or parts of kits online
I usually use PUBLISHER for other creations and am a big fan of that...anyone use THAT for digis?
i have no idea on this one
How long do your digi LO's take (approx)
depends on how much you do to it- if you are just placing things here and there without very many "tricks"- not very long at all
Do you print or just store on PC or SIS?
i have printed a few and i have created 2 photobooks through shutterfly
If I DO DIGI, get PS, etc. - what are the best digi sites to get stuff from?
there are several that you can search for- of course, SIS has gorgeous digi kits from audrey neal so i would start there
And finally, if I DO go digi...where can I sell my paper?
don't sell your paper! no matter how much you get into digi, i think that if you started with orginal scrapbooking, you will still do both- plus other papercraft ideas too
hope this helps a little- i got alot of information when i started from jan (fashionista)- she helped me a bunch

LMAO...okay, you digichicks know your stuff, I was NOT expecting ALL the qustions answered so quickly THANK YOU. I DO need to go to scrapblog, I have read about it in a few threads. Thank you SO MUCH!
PS, I would never REALLY sell my stuff...it would be like selling a child or something :o)
I have tried PS, and got to a point where I can get the red eye out. My friend is a wizard and tried to teach me layers, I found that confusing, but then I didn't know there were all those tuts out there.

Good, I'm glad it wasn't something that eveyone caught onto in a flash and I missed the boat. I remember starting to use my Craft Robo was hard, but you are right...ONCE YOU GET IT, you get it. Excellent point!

also, scrapblog.com is AWESOME!! try it out there first
I agree. If you don't know if you want to do digi and don't want to make the investment in a PS application, try Scrapblog.com first. It is easy.
Why would you want to digi/scrapblog - 1) You want to make a layout that you can share quickly. 2) You want to make a card/invitiation that can easily be emailed without going through of photographing, uploading and then emailing. 3) If you put a sticker, flower, journal somewhere and after you look at it, it's not right, you won't be crying as you tear your layout apart. 4) Scrapblog is free and they have tons of themes you can use or you can let your "mojo" take over and browse the many backgrounds and stickers. 5) You can edit your photos to get a special effects.
Do you print them out...That is up to you. I don't because I am a cheapskate and hate to use my ink. I have printed out before for a project for my students, they loved it. Scrapblog will soon have a print function, but until then, you can download the layouts as jpegs and store or print them.
Hope that helps.... Come to the "bright side" of digi. :-) LOL

Wow, I spent the last hour at Scrapblog...and it is FUN, but gosh, overwhelming. Of course I did not take any time to read directions or Tuts, jsut dove in LOL. But I did like the ability to resize 'stickers' and whatnot...you guys are awesome and I can see how diginess is getting so popular.

thanks leslie :)))
what a great idea - if anyone wants to swap postcard I would love to do this too!!!!
and here my answers to your ?'s:
Is photoshop the most common thing to use for digi?
I would say YES, but basically any photo editing software is usable.
Where is the best info (esp. for a very inexperienced PS user) to get started digi scrappin? Is PS the best thing to use and which version do you like?
KA has great tutorials as the Fgirls have a few up.
When I was starting out I used Jessica Sprague's Friday PS tutorials.
I also love doing challenges :)
What is the advantage of digi over paper? I feel like I have so many more creative options with paper...prove me wrong!
*ability to resize any paper/element - change color - and customize to your own photos or project
*ability to re-use digi stuff over and over again
*ability to PRINT digi stuff over and over again
*ability to make COPIES of your digi pages (either posting/e-mail or printing)
*easier to share pages
*LOT of FREEBIE available
*takes up LESS SPACE in your house (but not your hard drive ;)
*the UN-DO button!
I usually use PUBLISHER for other creations and am a big fan of that...anyone use THAT for digis?
I don't but i'm pretty sure you can use it.
How long do your digi LO's take (approx)
15 minutes to an hour - depends
Do you print or just store on PC or SIS?
just post on blog/galleries
I print when doing hybrid pages/projects
If I DO DIGI, get PS, etc. - what are the best digi sites to get stuff from?
SIStv :) I also have some other favorites. I can PM you if you want.
And finally, if I DO go digi...where can I sell my paper? LOL
I wouldn't. I love doing BOTH :)

Is photoshop the most common thing to use for digi?
I use Scrapblog to create all of my digital layouts... I do use Microsoft Image Pro 9 to edit some of my photos, occasionally, however I do most of my photo editing directly in Scrapblog these days.
Where is the best info (esp. for a very inexperienced PS user) to get started digi scrappin?
Scrapblog.com is the best place to get started... it's free, easy to use... you can jump right in without much instruction! If you're looking to go digital, try Scrapblog.com first!!!!!
Is PS the best thing to use and which version do you like?
Scrapblog now has some great photo editing options... PS is not really needed.
What is the advantage of digi over paper? I feel like I have so many more creative options with paper...prove me wrong!
No cost, no paper, no glue, no running to the craft store to get your supplies, no mess, no cutting, you can change your layouts as often as you want (I do this all the time), you can resize your elements easily in Scrapblog.com, you can resize photos, change them from color to black and white or sepia, etc..., you can try out different backgrounds, move your stickers around, resize your stickers, make your stickers opaque, cut out portions of your photos, add cool youtube videos to your pages, add background music to your online scrapbooks, add neat page transitioning to your scrapbooks, share then with friends and family via your personal blogs or email, and did I mention it's free????? That's the best part!
I usually use PUBLISHER for other creations and am a big fan of that...anyone use THAT for digis?
Nope, I only use Scrapblog.com!
How long do your digi LO's take (approx)
Depends on the complexity... a few minutes and up!
You could always use one of the many templates available on Scrapblog... all you'd need to do is remove the stock photos and replace them with your own... the design work is already done for you!
Of course, you can build your own layouts from scratch using elements from various themes, or you could stick to a particular theme... the option is yours!
Do you print or just store on PC or SIS?
I'm not currently printing any of my work, but Scrapblog will be offering the print services soon! We'll be able to publish our scrapblogs into book form! You can see an example of what the books will look like on episode #71 of SIStv.
If I DO DIGI, get PS, etc. - what are the best digi sites to get stuff from?
Everything you need is on Scrapblog.com!
And finally, if I DO go digi...where can I sell my paper? LOL
Sorry, can't help you there! LOL!
If you're already doing the traditional thing, chances are you won't want to give it up completely... digital could be used as a supplement to traditional for hybrid projects
I'm a pure digital girl... if you'd like to see some of my work, I'm KareBear here on SIStv and I'm little_m on Scrapblog!
Hope some of this helps you in your quest to go digital!!!!

So funny that we are both interested in this at the same time. I know you are bringing your laptop to our retreat, so am I, so maybe we can take some time to play. I have both PS and PSElements so you can try them both out. I gotta be honest, I am really liking this digital thing.

I know already a lot of answers...
Here are mine (okay, I'm a newby in digi, but loving it):
Is photoshop the most common thing to use for digi?
I think so, but I use Paint Shop Pro... I'm very happy to use it and I don't see a visual difference... there are different things you can do with one programm and not with the other...
Where is the best info (esp. for a very inexperienced PS user) to get started digi scrappin? Is PS the best thing to use and which version do you like?
I'm not using it myself, since I've got Paint Shop Pro, but I hear a lot of good things about scrapblog.
When you want kits to work with, there are soooo many great digi's to find everyday online for free. They are called: freebies... :D
What is the advantage of digi over paper? I feel like I have so many more creative options with paper...prove me wrong!
I still love both, more into digi right now... but love papers also.
Digi is clean and a bit easier when you don't know what you want... on the computer it's all in one spot, then going trough the whole house to find that one alfa you want... :D
I usually use PUBLISHER for other creations and am a big fan of that...anyone use THAT for digis?
I use PSP
How long do your digi LO's take (approx)
I'm not a fast scrapper, never been... so it takes a few hours to make a digi... since I'm still moving and changing, but I'm also doing that with papers... But I'm getting a bit faster now... ;-)
Do you print or just store on PC or SIS?
I store them on high resolution and still changeble for about a month, after that I store then on high resolution but all layers merged (saves a lot of space).
And I do let them print out. Somebody in my neighbourhood, collects all the digi's... and when there are 100 pages, she let's them print uit on 12" pages high quality. Then you pay for a double sided printed page about $2,50.
And they go into my albums right next to the paper scraps! :D
Sometimes people don't even see that they are digi... ;-)
If I DO DIGI, get PS, etc. - what are the best digi sites to get stuff from?
For freebies I go here everyday:
http://digifree.blogspot.com/
There are some great dt-members here of We are Storytellers and other great designers, just look into the digi-gallery and you will find them.
And finally, if I DO go digi...where can I sell my paper? LOL
Hmmmmm... Don't sell them jet... you might also want to try hybrid... :D
Thanks so much!
Hope this helps maybe a bit... different view... ;-)

I highly recommend Jessica Sprague's online classes if you really find you are getting into it and want to really build your confidence.
I love digi because I think I have been making much better lo's since I switched over. I was a timid paper scrapper, but with digi I can take my time, move elements around, try all sorts of different crops and embellishments and fonts, and anything I don't like I can undo or delete with a click of the mouse.
I still have all of my paper stuff, because it is nice to used for cards and hybrid projects. But at this point I think did is my thing.
Hope you play with it some more!
