I just completed my first digi layout using Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 and I went to download it to my portfolio and it told me the file must be less than 2000KB. My file is 2178KB. Anyone know how to help me? Any advice much appreciated.

Go to IMAGE>RESIZE>IMAGE SIZE

Change the RESOLUTION to 72

Save it as a COPY don't save the orginal at that size, that is just for uploading purposes only :) That should do it!

I followed all the steps you said. I didn't see anyplace I could save it as a copy, so I did save as and saved it as an edited_1 version of my original. I just tried to upload again and it said the same thing "must be under 2000KB". When I went to the folder, it now shows my original as 2178KB and the new edited version as 2179KB.....I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Go to IMAGE>RESIZE>IMAGE SIZE

Change the RESOLUTION to 72

I also change the dimensions:
both width and length should be 1000 pixels or less.

Then I hit "SAVE FOR WEB."

Does that work for you?

Another friend told me when I save it, to do save as, then when the box pops up for JPEG options (since that's how I saved it) to change the quality from 10 to 7. I did that and it worked! Thanks for all the advice and go to my profile to check out my newly uploaded page!

yay it worked!

I normally change my size, but I was hinh that just changing the resolution would work since your file wasnt so big. darn. Sorry I was late back but yay that you got some help!
