Okay, this is going to sound like a dumb question - but I am frustrated and know I am missing some thing very simple.
I open up PSE, make my canvas 8 1/2 x 11. I want to place several photos that are 3.5 x 3.5 so that I can print it at home (just have a regular format printer). How in the world do I do that? I think I do it, and then when I print the pics are just small squares and not the size I want at all.
I am very new to PSE, and I am just learning - I know if anybody can help it will be you ladies!
Thanks!

I use PS CS2 but....I would crop my photos first.
Open a photo. Click on the CROP tool and enter the measurements. You can also type in the resolution to 300 dpi.
Use your mouse and drag over the area you want to crop. Hit enter.
Do all your photos like this.
Then drag them onto your canvas.
When they're on the canvas, double-check that they are the size you want. Use the Ruler to check (VIEW>RULER).
Then Print (use the PRINT PREVIEW).
let me know if that works...

Okay, thank you - I should ahve mentioned I am PS DUMB, actually let me put that disclaimer in there now.
Now, lets say I don't want to crop, I want the whole photo just as a smaller size, can you do that without cropping anything out?

So assuming the photo is already a square, you can still use the crop tool. Just select the whole photo. Start in one corner and drag diagonally to opposite corner to select the whole photo. It will then "crop" the photo into the smaller size you specified without cutting out anything. But again your original has to be square to begin with since you want it 3.5 x 3.5 square. HTH! Sometimes I can get too technical....

Can you do Ctrl-T? Check
this video
. It's in Photoshop but I think it's the same idea.

get your photos on your layout, click on a corner to create a transform handle. drag from the corner "only" drag inward and you will resize your photo. double click to commit.
when you go to print out your layout make sure it says 8X8 in the drop down box, and also check the box that says "show bounding box" then go into your printers properties and make sure that the portrait, or landscape match what you have in PSE.
I learned ALOT from 2 Jessica Sprague classes. she does online video tutorials, you go at your own pace. She is the best teacher out there and she will teach you things you never dreamed you could learn. You should take her next up and running with photoshop class. www.jessicasprague.com.
