Hello Worldwide-scrappers...

I'm new in the digi-world and I just love it! I'm downloading tons of freebies right now.

But how do you file your papers, flowers, buttons, kits?

I want to make a good system that I can find things easy... but how?

Who has the nummer 1 tip for me?

Thanks a lot!

Greetings
Iris

Hi Iris --
A little birdie told me there may be a tutorial in the works explaining this ;)

But it's great you are starting early. I have been organizing by DESIGNER, but this doesn't help me when I looking a particular item like a green button say.

What program will you be using to organize? Some program allow you to add KEYWORDS to your files so you can search by KEY WORD.

Wow... keywords to file your stuff... that should be great...

By now I'm putting papers in a map but also leave the downloaded file complete, incase I need to know the name or see the emblies there are there... And I 've made some maps with ribbons, embli's, flowers...
But I can make a button one too, there are so many allready...

That is a nice story of that little bird of yours... very curious!

Thanks,
Iris

I have a really good memory when it comes to what I have in my stash. So I like to break everything down. Like alphas, papers, fasteners, ribbons, etc....everything gets its own folder. Misc. stuff gets stuffed into the Doodad folder and any sticker, doodle, rubon gets put in a Decal folder. Some kits, I leave as it is and put them in a Kit folder. Then I have duplicates of some stuff too....the kit/elements may also be in my By Designer Folder, where I put everything by my favorite designers...in sub categories.

I am a neat freak when it comes to organizing my supplies, so they have to be broken down, so if I need some stitches, I go to the stitches folder.

That way I am never limited to just one kit or element pack. I love to mix everything up. :)

Thanks a lot for your response!!!

I think I will have to do that too...

But how about when you have to 'name' the artist that has made it...

Now I'm still keeping the complete kit also, just in case.
Do you have an idea for that?

Thank again for letting me know!

Usually I remember who made a certain product. But in the case that I can't like for Fasteners...in that folder I have staples, safety pins, brads, etc. If something does not have the artists name on it, I put a sub folder in the fasteners folder for 'Artist Name--Staples' That way, I know who made it.

Like...

Alphas
****Cardboard Alphas
****Paper Alphas
*********Divian's Pink Paper Alpha

It might go something like that. Does that make sense? :) So I literally have lots and lots of subfolders full of stuff.

oooh...good tips! I file mine by designer, because I seem to remember who makes what. =) I do, however, keep a folder of "Most Used" items that I use again and again - I just copy them into a folder and make sure they're named correctly so I know who made what. =) That way I don't have to dig through to find the ones I love all the time.
