Hey, does anyone use Bridge to organize their schtuff?? I just got it with my PSE 6.0 version for the Mac...it looks way complicated LOL! Just wondering if anyone who uses it can point me in a direction on how to learn it and is it even worth learning?? LOL

tia!

I half-heartedly attempted to use Bridge to organize my digi stuff, but I have WAY too much stuff. But I *hear* being organized is really nice. You can enter a keyword and find all your buttons for example.

Jessica Sprague also had a tut on organizing here in case you're interested.

HTH!

Thanks Cayla! I'm thinking I might just try to stick with organizing in iPhoto for now...I still need to focus on learning PSE and the Bridge program looks a bit intimidating to my novice eyes right now LOL!!

I organized all my stuff ONCE in ACDSee...it was cool....then my HDD crashed and I didn't have the tags backed up. I never attempted togo thru all the stuff again, b/c it took, like, forever...not to mention I had add loads of new stuff too. Lucky for me I know all my pieces and where to find them. :)

I organized all my stuff through Bridge and I am super happy! I'm on a Mac (so no ACDSee for me) and though it took me *hours* of entering keywords, I can now found all my digital items quickly and easily. Tagging my photos...now that's another story! LOL!

but has a large learning curve -

that's what my hesitation is right now...my brain can only handle so much new stuff (PSE, Bridge..ack!)...I think I'll just focus on learning my Mac and PSE and wait on the Bridge stuff...LOL!!

I just started a discussion about this very thing on another board. I used to, (let me rephrase that), I attempted to (lol) use Bridge. However, it was slow, it crashed over and over and honestly i was just frustrated.

Now, part of the problem may have been that i was using my old computer, has pscs3 on it and photo impact on it, as well as video games of the kids and my photo's. Well ps is a hog for one thing, some of those games are hogs as well, and since i take tons of pics that wasn't helping either.

Finally dh bought me a new laptop and a myworldbook wireless ehd. I had an ehd before but never put pscs on it. (why i don't know execpt to say that i just couldn't think smarter and really love to work harder haha)

So, here's where i am today. pscs3 is on my new ehd, all my digi scrap supplies and photos are on ehd and my laptop has more hd space.

Still, i'm not using bridge. just don't feel like going thru that again, and i found that Windows photo gallery is working pretty good.

With photo gallery you can tag, the work space is nice and you can open from photo gallery to ps. Also you can use windows search to find what you are looking for. Even if it's on an ehd.

here's a run down of what others have shared and here are some links on photo gallery.

you can batch tag
you can tag pngs..not sure how yet but it can be done.
it's free, it's easy to set up, you can see things easily and open into ps. (haven't tried it with pi yet)

ok i know this has nothing to do with digi scrap organizing but it's the best i could find on a tutorial using photo gallary..

here's the link

http://channel9.msdn.com/Media/PhotoGallery.html

and here is a helpful blog (followed thru the link on the screen cast above)

http://blogs.msdn.com/pix/

and you can get photogallery for xp here
http://get.live.com/photogallery/overview

***what i've done is taken the concepts for tagging from acdsee using all 8 orgainizing styles and mixing them into one style that works for me. I added my categories, then sub-catagories etc.

Now, i'm in the process of dragging and dropping my scrap stuff into thos tags.

If anyone uses photo gallery and has any info to share i'm all ears.

I'm probably using 1/10 of the power of Bridge, but I use the "Keywords" in the metadata to tag all of my elements with keywords I create. Then, using the "find" feature, I can find "blue" + "ribbon" + "aneal" or whatever else I want. You can also tag your photos using keywords (in iphoto or bridge) and then search for stuff like "John" + "London" + "2003" or whatever.

It's very cool!

I also think that Bridge just makes it easier to preview images and flip through whatever you have.

well, I'm just beginning to use Bridge on my mac. I have only really started to move my photos into files, I haven't tagged anything yet. Once I get files set up, then I will attempt that! LOL

I do like Bridge better so far than iPhoto...

i haven't attempted to use the bridge but being organized sound great!!
i currently have some photos organized in iphoto. i like how it separates the dates but you can also add the names of events

LOL! I like that about iPhoto too! I don't like the limited editing you can do with it though...

I just jumped in and started to play around with it....

I have it with my creative suite, but have never attempted to use it. I still have my old system I use of just archiving etc. I prolly should get up with the times since graphic design is ever changing.

I've always disliked Bridge and prefer AcDSee for organizing. :)

I think I am going to try Bridge since I already have it. As opposed to purchasing something else.

I'm really liking Bridge so far. Course I've only touched the surface but so far so good! I had AcDSee for my pc and had a ton of problems with it? Probably just user error ;) but I had everything organized in PSE's organizer after that and it worked for me...but since I'm now on a Mac and the new PSE 6.0 for Mac came with Bridge instead of Organizer I'm using it!

Speaking of Bridge, I was just moving around some files and I accidentally deleted all of my photos from yesterday. Instead of BATCH RENAME I hit SEND TO RECYCLE BIN. Argggghhhhh. But it's not in my recycle bin.

Okay end of rant.

I do like Bridge though for viewing my photos. I don't use it for organizing digi stuff YET. I will check out Putri's tut though. Thanks for posting!

The only thing I use bridge for is to find stuff. I kind of have it organized, and I just use it to "visually" search for pictures. I should probably try to learn it, too. (I'm on a mac)
