lots of questions today!
1. when you upload your digi lo's to snapfish or wherever- do you upload them in jpeg format? if so, can i delete the psd format?
2. which takes up more room- psd or jpeg? i am working on the retirement scrapbook and already filled up a 2 gig flashdrive saving on in psd format
3. how many is too many pages when you make a photo book? i am going to have a lot. and when they say 20 pages, does that mean 20 pages front and back as in 40 total pages or 10 pages front and back so really only 20 total pages (does that make sense?)
4. do they leave a "white strip" or blank area when they make the photo book or should I make sure my edge where they will be in the "crack" of the book is free of anything?
5. and if anyone wouldn't mind posting a picture of some photo books that they have had published, that would be fantastic. i am a little nervous putting these digi lo's together in anticipation of sending them off to snapfish and it not turning out very well...

Hi Kylissa!
1. You upload them in JPEG format. I recommend keeping the PSD format though in case you realize there is a spelling mistake or something else you want to change later - maybe you can just keep them on CD's/DVD's or an external hard drive.
2. PSD's take up way more room. Depending on the number of layers it could be almost 100 times as much! JPEG's are compressed so you lose quality, PSD's are totally uncompressed and they save all the layers where JPEG's are totally flat.
3. When they say 20 they mean 10 pages front and back. I printed my book with 20 pages and it came out kinda wimpy I think.. 40 would be a nice full book :)
4. They don't leave a white strip so don't but anything important in the "crack"
5. I got mine done at Shutterfly and loved how they turned out. There's a few pictures on my blog here: http://jencaputo.typepad.com/jen_caputo/2007/12/iv e-been-shutte.html
Good luck!!

Uh-Oh... we've totally hi-jacked this thread... a friend of mine told me to tell people "I don't drink beer, I drink Ale." LOL. (The beer in my picture is a Double IPA actually though, my favorite style - India Pale Ale, yummy and hoppy!)

thank you for sharing your link! when i upload my pages, i won't have to design my pages with THEIR templates do i? I can just upload my jpeg files and it will help me correct being in the "crack"?

Oh no you don't. If you look back, I did two books. One I had designed the pages for (the 8x8) . The other I designed at the last minute so i just used their templates. And when I did use their templates I couldnt upload my own cover. But the other book I did, where i uploaded all my own pages, I could upload my own cover.
