Ok , so I want to try some digital stuff but here's my problem. I have no clue what I'm doing and I don't even know where to start.

I downloaded the free trial of Photoshop Elements and have played in it a little but I am getting no where. I need a manual, or a how to, or something. My first interest is in learning how to edit photos with it, but I also want to start experimenting with digi/hybrid scrap pages.

Can anyone refer me to a book, blog, etc that will help a beginner? I know nothing about this stuff and just need a frame a reference to get started!

Thanks!

There are some webisodes with tutorials you can check out here. I have Photoshop CS2, so the program I use is different. But check out SISTV for the tutorials! :)

Check out Jessica Sprague's website. She has changed my life in terms of digital scrapping. I am currently taking a class with her on line and it ROCKS! (you can check out my gallery if you want)
She does Photoshop Friday's where she puts up new tutorials. Personally I recommend that you take a class with her. WELL worth it, FO' REALS!

Also, the greatest Photoshop Elements book I've ever seen is Patty Debowski's "Digital and Hybrid Scrapbooking & Card-Making with Photoshop Elements." It is worth every penny and some more!

Here's a link to her site: LINK

It's completely comprehensive. It's in plain English. And, the photos are GREAT!

I started digi by doing Jessica Sprague's tutorials as well as a few challenges on various sites. I love Patty's book too. It's a great resource. And of course KA has a great webisode on making your first digi and hybrid layouts!

I use PS CS2, but if you have specific questions about PSE let us know! We'll hook ya up!

Hey, you know what. Scrapbooks Etc magazine has a special issue that is GREAT for beginner and intermediate digi. It is seriously the best reference. I can't remember the name because I lent mine out, I'm sorry! But look for it at your local LSS or grocery store, I think I bought mine at Publix.

Another great site for tutorials is Hummie's World. Just click on Tutorials up at the top. She has a lot in PDF format (free) and quite a few in video. When she does a new video she will leave it up for a few days before she moves it to the subscriber area. I've really learned a lot from her.

Leah, welcome to the (also very addicting) world of digi scrapping! There are so many great suggestions here.

Just also want to mention the new digital scrapbooking blog right here at SIStv. I think you'll find some nice, easy to understand basics there - and there will be new tutorials each week as well. Just click on the "digital scrapbooking" link at the top left.

And I will echo the encouragement to just throw your questions out there and you will get wonderful SISters flocking around to help you out! :)
