I woke up on Monday morning with some crazy back pain like I've never experienced. I'm trying not to go to the doctor, especially since I'm going on vacation next week, but I need some suggestions on how to make this feel better.

Thermo Heat pads are AMAZING to me .. and if you HAVE to pick something up .. ima need you to be squatting .. but ultimately sounds like your body is telling you to SLOW DOWN and RELAX

But try those heat things, they stay hot forever ..

I second the heat pads, they work wonders! Also, stretch regularly and be sure to stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water will help relax the muscles.

Plus, a nice warm bubbly bath can't hurt ^_^

ever tried yoga or pilates? just lying on your back practicing the yoga breathing really stretches out your spine. there are probably videos on youtube

If the pain is in your lower back, lay on the floor and slowly lift your legs up and grab your big toes. Sounds crazy but it really helps stretch out those aching back muscles. Hold for as long as it's comfortable. It's a yoga pose called the happy baby.

Good luck! Back pain is no fun!

Have you ever been to a Chiropractor? I highly recommend them. I have been to two kinds - one were they manipulate your back by bending you every which way - the other just uses this "T" shaped tool that hits pressure points. SERIOUSLY the last kind of Chiro I mentioned(the one with the tool) has worked WONDERS.

One more bit of advice here. Please check to make sure you don't have a UTI infection or kidney infection!

Make sure you don't have any fever, if you do. Call your doc immediately!

Get better!!

AMEN!
I was in a bad cheerleading accident in high school, I went to the chiropractor twice a week for four months! It was WODNERFUL!
Especially at the end where he used this heat thing on my back (sonogram thingy) and it calmed down the tension.
LOVE THE CHIRO!

oh my stephy........
want me to come take care of you???
i've never been to the 'noog...

i say yes to the chiropractor idea...
i see one that is pretty good.
i saw an even better one at the breast cancer walk.
his adjustment was awesome.

where is the pain?
lower back?
middle back?

sometimes heat is horrible for certain kind of aches.
sometimes ice is better....
does it feel inflamed?

ok, doctor pam is done now... i'll need your answers to the previous questions to give you a correct diagnosis.

(if it were an eye question, i'd totally be on the answers for you!)

;o)

It's lower left back...and it hurts like the dickens in the morning, not so much right now. It feels a little inflamed...and there are spasms.

And yes, please come take care of me.

ice darling...
20 minutes every hour.

it may hurt a little, but if it's inflamed(hot), then you need to cool it...

i wish i could come visit you...
hopefully soon though!

Yes, exactly!

plus ibruprophen and lots of water
This too!

These are the things that my doctor and chiropractor recommend when I have had back pain. That and the stretching that has also been suggested.

I hope that you are feeling better soon, especially for your vacation.
