I didn't even know he had cancer!
I am just so saddened with this!
83 years old, but just a wonderful actor and human being!
what a sad day!

I am really sad about this as well! I didn't know his wife had passed, when was that? He was ageless, he has always been older in my lifetime but I loved everything he did and he was really concerned about the environment and others. What a sad day!

His wife is still alive. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. That is an eternity these days and even longer by Hollywood's standards.
He is one of my all time favorite actors. He will be missed but his legacy will live on.

I only knew that because I just read him this morning, and they mentioned that she was by his side when he passed. I had no idea he had lung cancer and had been battling it for quite some time.

Just heard that on the news, such a sad day for everyone, he was a class act. Love Joanne too. So glad they were happy for so long.

I totally got so teary eyed when my mom told me he had died this morning. I just LOVED him...he was still so good looking after he got older...I could never believe he was as old as he was...and now to have passed is just so sad. He's done so much good with his charity work. OK, I'm about to start crying...I'm really emotional about this for some reason...

My DS said, "the guy on the salad dressing?"
that makes me sad that his generation don't know Paul Newman's movies. I might have to force Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid on him. I agree he was gorgeous, but oh so much more!
