I'm not part of this cool book club but I just read The Yellow Wallpaper

Jamie,
I read this in college and then had to write a paper about the story. Loved it, she was very controversial in her writings back in the day! Quite the feminist!!

Allison, you should read her stories I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

I'm moving on to Dad's part, Beautiful Boy.

Susan,
I loved the dad's book. There is a lot of information in there that will scare you but it is meant to. You can see how Nic has broken down their family and he's at a lost at what to do. He wants to save his son but yet he can't keep putting his other family members in jeopardy. My heart broke for everyone.

Let me know what you think!
(thinking of you!)

What Was Lost by Catherine O'Flynn

Giving this book 2 stars pains me because the first half that focused on Kate Meany was fantastic and intriguing. The second half takes place 20 years later. Boring, slow and just didn't feel cohesive to me.I had to force myself to finish the book. I needed to find out what happened to Kate.

Long time no post/long on for me. Here's an update of what I've read and where I'm at.....

14/30 Eclipse

15/30 The Book of Ruth

And now I'm reading Breaking Dawn. I don't know what I'll do when I'm through the saga. I can't believe it. Guess I'll have to read the Midnight Sun that Stephenie Meyer has put on the internet.

the black dahlia by james mcelroy
this was a pretty enjoyable book. i didn't realize that it was based on an actual crime, so i think i'm going to have to check out a nonfiction book on the case, just to get the story straight.

the serial killers club by (i can't remember)
gosh, i didn't realize how odd it was that i read these right after each other until i just wrote it, lol. this was supposed to be almost a comedy book, about a non-serial killer who infiltrates a club of serial killers, and then kinda becomes one himself in a round about way. the cover was lovely and i was really looking forward to this, but i thought that it kinda fell flat. the story was just so rushed and i think that he tried to lead the reader in the wrong way so they would be surprised at the end so much, that i wasn't really that surprised at all.

update: 56/120

Finished Conspiricy in Death by JD Robb
and Loyalty in Death by JD Robb
Currently on Witness in Death by JD Robb (one more disc to go)
All in Audio at the moment

The audios are helping during all of my driving, but then I brought the last 3 discs in the room last night and was listening to them while scrapbooking!

I am also reading Excavation by James Rollins. So far it is pretty freaky. I really am enjoying it.

every year my university puts on a children's literature festival with mostly local (but not always) authors.
there is a whole day of author readings and interviews for a registration fee, but they always do 2 free autograph sessions.
i was pleasantly surprised to find that a few authors that will be there this year happen to have written some of my favorite children's books, so i will be going.

i'll post a list of authors, and if any of ya'll wanted to send my a 1-2 books to be autographed, i would be more than happy to do so. i work during both autograph sessions, so i'll just be popping over on my lunch break. just wanted to give everyone an opportunity!

I just finished The Handmaid's Tale
LOVED it. And to think that it was once banned and I might not have had a chance to read it.

Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann

Not as great as I expected it to be and I guess I'm clueless because it has certainly been rated high and reviewed greatly.

On to the next book!

The Arrival by Shaun Tan

This book should be read by all...the pictures are beyond words!! Shaun Tan is incredibly talented and he so eloquently conveys the emotions that immigrants feel and how hard it is to start over in a strange land. All without saying a word.

welcome lanuchan!+20

i've read an abundance of katherines by john green.
and 13 little blue envelopes by maureen johnson.

gotta say. i loved them both. and i don't care that they are young adult fiction.

i'm such a vlogbrothers fan, it was great to finally read one of john's books.
