I finished an Audio book this week during my drives to/from work: Memory In Death by JD Robb.
I am also now halfway through Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone on Audio Book since I am listening to that on my drive to and from Michigan this weekend. :)

Persepolis 2:The Story of a Return
This book helped to open my eyes about what people went through living in Iran during the 80's and 90's and even today. I love her drawings, her sarcastic humor, and the way that she honestly portrayed herself.

I finished London Bridges by James Patterson....onto Mary, Mary next.
I did not finish the HP audio book because I am missing a disc!!! I know the whole thing, but the disc is right in the middle, and ruined the whole deal for me. So, I started Vengence In Death by JD Robb on audio and I am going to continue with that series for now.

Loose Girl: A Memoir of Promiscuity by Kerry Hoffman
This book was depressing to read. My adopted daughter is so much like the author it isn't even funny. I was struck by pure sadness that Kerry went through her teens and young adult life feeling that the only time she was worthy of love was when she was having sex with some boy. That need to be loved was so strong that it influenced every thing that she did......EVERYTHING!! My daughter doesn't care what the boy looks like, his personality, nothing...just so long as he "likes" her.Glad that I read it but makes me realize that there are many long and painful years for my daughter to get through until she realizes that she is worthy

Austenland by Shannon Hale I just flat out love Mr. Darcy and thought this book was pure fun. Of course I watched Colin Firth all day yesterday because it did nothing here but rain. So what better way to spend the day than to pretend to be Mrs. Darcy? If you love Austen and that time period you will find this book very enjoyable!!

Don't You Forget About Me by Jancee Dunn
This book took me straight down memory lane. A fast and easy read! For those of us that graduated from high school in 87 or 88 you will see yourself, your friends, and your high school reflected in this book.

I am currently reading Hofstede, Software of the Mind Damaska, The Faces of Justice and State Authority and to keep me sane a thriller from Robert Ludlum, The Bancroft Strategy (the Bourne Saga author). It is actually quite suspenseful and I cannot wait to get back to it tonight... Good reading, ladies!

i finished the historian. i really enjoyed it. i did find that the end was a bit rushed. it seemed like the author spent so much time talking about the travels and everyone coming up empty-handed. then, when everyone finds each other and what not, she gives you like, 10 pages and then it's over.

Loving Nora Roberts
Have you read any of the JD Robb In Death series? I like her writting style for this series because it is a little bit different from the others.
My favorite Saga of hers is the Chesepeak Bay saga, and I love all of the McGregor stories.

Finished The Host a couple of days ago. I loved loved loved this book. I wondered if that was what it was like to be schizophrenic. I was worried it would be to invasion of the body snatchers for me but not sci-fi at all! I had so much compassion for all the characters but found myself conflicted on who I wanted them to be with and what the 'right' thing to do was. I hope she writes more in the series. I'd love to read more.
Now I'm reading "Tweak" by Nic Sheff. I'm about half in already and let me tell you, being a recovering meth user myself, this book put me in a funky mood yesterday. Reminded me of how much I am STILL an addict. YIKES! Luckily by the end of the day I was in a sober part.

84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
I found this book to be utterly charming and witty!! I loved every single letter that was in here and I wished that I could go to Marks & Co. right now. I also wish that I could browse an old antique book store with Helene Hanff!! I must included one of my favorite passages from a letter to all the employees at Marks & Co. from Helene Hanff:
Thank you for the beautiful book. I've never owned a book before with pages edged all round in gold. Would you believe it arrived on my birthday? I wish you hadn't been so over-courteous about putting the inscription on a card instead of on the flyleaf. It's the bookseller coming out in you all, you were afraid you'd decrease its value. You would have increased it for the present owner. (And possibly for the future owner, I like the comradely sense of turning pages someone else turned, and reading passages some one long gone has called my attention to.)
The second paragraph struck a chord deep within me about being a person who loved to read and to read a line that someone else found worth noting.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good letter and loves books!

I'm not part of this cool book club but I just read The Yellow Wallpaper (very short) and it was a good story. I'm also reading "In The Woods' whenever I'm on the subway or waiting for something and it's so good. It's one of those real charming yet sad books and even though I'm halfway through I want to recommend it to you all.

Can I just say that I don't think I have ever in my life read 17 books in a year let alone since May! I have to say that this reading inspiration is one of my favorite things about SIS! Thanks so much.
I just finished Tweak last night. I'm still in a somewhat of a dark place after reading this book. I honestly do NOT know how I can long for a life that was so horrific, even for a few moments. I'm moving on to Dad's part, Beautiful Boy. Hope reading the effects using has on the innocent will draw me out of my funk.
