I have been SO sick lately...all day, all night. I have had to miss work, can't keep any food down and even drinking water makes me really sick.
I've even lost about 5 lbs. in a week!
I had bad morning sickness with Katie, but it was nothing like this.
Do any of you Mama's have any cure-alls to share with me? :)
I'm pretty desperate for some relief...whatever I have to go through for a healthy baby is absolutely worth it, but man!!!!
I'm trying to get in to see my doctor tomorrow, so hopefully I'll know more then. But any advice would be greatly appreciated :) :)
Thank you!!
xx

Ginger anything - tea, pills, soda

Supposedly if you eat some type of protein (nuts, peanut butter, hard boiled egg white) before bed it's supposed to lessen the symptoms in the morning. BUt if you're sick all day...that may not apply.

Good luck to you.
Hopefully you'll start feeling better soon.

I was the same way with my first son. I weighed less after I had him than before.

For some reason Pop Tarts was a blessing! It was all I could tolerate for the first few weeks.

And like Kate said, ginger!

Get better! Let us know if something worked too! Cause you never know who might need the same advice later!

(no NOT me)!!!!

I was the same way...lost 25 pounds with my boy.
only gained 30 total, so I was about the same weight going into the hospital as when I got pregnant.

nothing helped me.
I wish I had some advice.
good luck sweetie!!

I have been going through it too, and it is starting to ease up.
The things that have helped me the most:
*eat a saltine cracker (sometimes two) before even getting out of bed
*Chewable PreNatal vitamins
*Ice chips
*Mint tea...or peppermint hard candy...Peppermint gum only works for a little bit

Hope those will help you out a bit...
hang in there!!
xoxo

Thank you all so much :)
I am all for getting some medicine prescribed, as long as it won't hurt the baby!
I am going to have to try the ice chips and motion sickness bracelet, I haven't tried those.
Thank you all!

Amber,
the preggy pop drops are what I was going to mail you! :)
I still plan on it...just go to get feeling good enough to get them in the mail.
They did help me with my morning sickness with Katie, but this is a whole new ball game.
I'm glad you're not sick yet, maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones! :)

I had terrible sickness with both of my kids & was on Rx meds both times. The last pregnancy I took Zofran & non-drowsy Dramamine. It was the only way I could get through the day at work. Zofran is really expensive so some insurances don't cover it. But you can at least get started on over the counter stuff. Hope you start feeling better soon. :)

Also my doctor told me that having morning sickness was a good sign because it means you have a high level of the pregnancy hormone.

Hey SISters!! :)
Well, I went to the doctor yesterday and he got me started on some medicine to take 4 times a day, and some vitamin B-6 that will hopefully get me to where I can start eating again...I've lost 7 lbs. in a week!!

And I had my first ultrasound today :) the doctor let me have one this early because my symptoms can mean twins! Just one baby though, soooo tiny (half an inch!) but I was able to see and hear the babies heartbeat and they said that everything looks perfect. :)
I'm going to try to go back to work tomorrow, just a half day so I'm hoping I'll be able to make it that long. :)
Here's to less morning sickness from here on!

I had terrible time with this and could not eat for 5 months and was on home IV. The bottom line for me seemed to be keeping my blood sugars level. If I ate the tiniest bit of baked potatoe I needed something with protein that would stick with me like a little cube of cheese.

Oh honey I am so feeling your pain. Let me tell you...my pregnancies are SOOOOOOOOOOOO bad that a dr. wanted to actually write a book about it. LOL

I threw up with all my three kids so badly that I would break blood vessels all over my face and shoulders.

I would pass out EVERYWHERE I went so I couldn't be alone.

I had IV's in me all the time and I was on all kinds of medicines.

I threw up for the entire 9 months and for two weeks after. It was bad.

What helped?

I had to take meds that helped me. It never stopped it fully but I went from throwing up 12 times a day to about 5-6 times a day.

Before I would get out of bed I would take my meds and then lay back down.
I would then get up. Throw up. feel a little better. Eat. then sit.

I Always tried to have something in my mouth!!!

I used the bands as well. These you have to have one 24/7--literally all the time and you could not take it off ever. It takes a couple days to kick in as well.

Hope you feel better.

Hugs
Suzy

I took zofran for almost my entire pregnancy, and Chloe seems a-ok!
Seriously, I couldn't have gotten through a day w/o it! They have a generic version now, it's muchmuch cheaper.

The preggie pops/drops helped me, and lemon anything--slices, lemonaide, sorbet.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

I would nibble on a couple saltines before even getting out of bed and drink real, pure chamomile tea.

Feel better!

so happy you got meds (and I'm sure they'll work wonders!)

... but thought I'd throw this out there anyway ...

I had similar problems and someone told me about an old home remedy that helped me quite a bit. (it sounds gross but it did work and didn't taste as bad as it sounds.)

Pour 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into a bottle of water and take tiny sips... when I didn't think I could get through another day at work, I'd do this during the day and it did help. It also helped at meal time when I knew I had to eat but was too afraid of throwing up. A couple sips and I could take a bite of something.

Also, I ate Cheerios and applesauce once I could eat again. That's all I could get down!

GOOD luck - this too shall pass!!!

Thank you all so much :) :)
I'm feeling some better since I started on the medicine, but I'm not against trying a home remedy if it flares up again (as long as it won't hurt the baby, of course)
Just four more weeks though, and the 1st trimester will be over..maybe it will go away then? :)

Aww poor thing! Saltine crackers always worked for me.

And how about

- dill pickles?
- anything with ginger?
- gel-o?

(sorry hope none of these suggestions turn you off ;-))
