I'm now at 6/50.

Just finished reading One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Shall we say it was an interesting read?

DH and I off vacation for the next two weeks starting tomorrow and I'll be reading every single day as I sit by the pool, sipping a nice cool beverage with an umbrella in it.

and i just couldn't get into it. at all. i just returned it without finishing it.

aw, this makes me a little sad, allison.
but i know brennan is an acquired taste.
i devour him like all the goodness in the world. but he is kinda wordy.

aw, this makes me a little sad, allison.
i know. i was really sad that i couldn't get into it either.
i was so excited to read it.
i do think that part of it was my fault. like i wasn't in the right mindset to really absorb what he had to say.
i think that i was distracted, and found that him being so wordy frustrated me instead of hitting home because if he was repeating himself, it was something that i needed to hear over and over.

i'm definitely going to come back to it.
i know that i need to hear what he is saying.

Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines by Nic Sheff

This book was harrowing, scary, dark and brutally honest. The only other book I've read that dealt with their addiction this honestly was Nikki Sixx's book. Nic's words made me really think about what it is like to be a teenager right now in today's world. How kids of divorced parents can feel so disconnected and not a part of anyone's family. I strongly recommend this book to parents of teens, and the teen themselves. There are graphic scenes of sex and of course the *f* word throughout the book but I applaud Nic for being true to the story of his life.....BRAVO!! I wish him well.

Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines by Nic Sheff

I can not wait to read this book and his fathers. My friend has them but keeps forgetting to bring them to me.

Hi Susan,
A couple of people here have read both of these and for me I'm glad that I read the father's book first because he really helped to lay some groundwork out that Nic didn't do in his book. Two completely different styles of writing and both of them are great, scary, but great!!
