girl, you are crazy! I cannot believe you are trying to update them so frequently..... I don't think you should try more than once at the start of each monthly thread, otherwise you will spend all of your time updating the post!!! but that is just my two Cents!!
Armance!! So glad you made it over... Hoping someone here can help ya out...we have a pretty great group of readers...

I had a hard time getting through Love in the Time of Cholera, but I'm glad I read it, you know?
Same with me, but I read it a long time ago. I'm now reading 100 Years of Solitude by the same author.

*embarrassed* I just found this thread... are we just supposed to put how many books we read in August?
If so - all Twilight books. I just read Lemony Sticket's Horshradish. Next up, The Dutchess. This book came before the new Kiera Knightly movie.

Don't be embarrassed! We're just glad you found us:) I think most people picked at goal for the whole year, but you can do it any way you want. (I think some people aren't doing a goal, just reading away)
It looks like you're having a fruitful August already:)

Update: 38/120
Finished Breaking Dawn last night. So sad that the saga has ended. Mixed feelings about this book...I think because it is the end, but I loved so many parts of the book. Now I have to go get the host so I can start that one. :)

i finished eat, pray, love last night. overall, i really liked it. although most people would never be able to drop their lives for a year to do that, or have the connections to do some of the things she did, i still appreciated what she went through. i can relate to her struggle of balancing the world + spirituality, so many of the realizations she came to hit home for me.
i still can't decide how to star-rate it though. i found myself marking so many pages because i wanted to write passages down, like, at least 25. but then, i really struggled to get through indonesia. i think i had high expectations for it, because i was really looking forward to reading about how she meshed pleasure + spirituality. and although she did, i guess i was just a little disappointed in how she did... that sounds selfish of me, but i guess i was just expecting a huge epiphany. i guess maybe a 4.5???

Korbyn - tell us how the Host is! I dont know if I want to read that or not.
I had the same feelings as you did on BD. But I dont think she has *officially* ended the saga. I think she will take it to a different point of view which is all sorts of cool in my opinion. Seriously - can't wait for Midnight Sun and to satisf the thrist until that time (2009 I guess it comes out?) they are going to have an Encyclopedia with LOADS of backstories on the Saga.
And than we have the MOVIE to entertain us too! :)

and although she did, i guess i was just a little disappointed in how she did...
I know what you mean. I was left a little wanting with Indonesia myself. The time she spent at the ashram was probably my fav part. Wish I would have marked quotes I liked in the book but it was borrowed.
I think she will take it to a different point of view which is all sorts of cool in my opinion.
ME TOO!!! I can't wait to read from Edward's point of view. Now I'm excited for the movie.

good. i enjoyed the golden compass, but found quite a few discussions on goodreads about how nobody seemed to like them.
i also saw on goodreads that pullman wrote more books that go along with this series, once upon a time in the north and lyra's oxford as well. i don't know what they are about, but will definitely be reading them as well.

i'm not going to read it and expect it to be a continuation of the series though. hopefully that will make it more enjoyable. i'm just looking at it as more stories from an author that i love, with throwbacks to the series.

I also just finished Eat, Pray, Love this week. Then I read the Celestine Prophesies.
I loved Eat, Pray, Love. I even liked the Indonesian part because I was curious to see how she would approach life outside the Ashram. I just found the whole book really inspiring.
I just joined in July, so I'm not on the list yet but my numbers are 8/50.

did you only add RECENT reads to your list? Or anything you can remember ever reading? Your special favorites?
i added some of my faves, but mostly just what i had read that month. sheesh, i have too many books to put them all on there when i joined!
and melly - thankyou so much. i actually have a master word document on my laptop, so come september, i'll just readjust all the numbers then. i don't want you going crazy! you ladies are okay with the numbers being adjusted come september right?
welcome elise! glad to have you here :) and nan! hurrah!
