AND I HAVE MET MY GOAL!!!! 18/18
Dang you're good! I found that I actually read a lot with a newborn. Keep some good cheesy thrillers by the nursing rocker...ones that you can pick up at 2am and understand!!

that's kinda my goal...but I'll be changing it up soon:)
Just finished EXILE by Richard North Patterson
It's a meaty thriller about a trial in the US involving suicide bombers, Israel/Palestine mess etc.
There is a lot of history/info that really sheds a lot of light on all sides of that situation. And the last 100 pages...whew...couldn't put it down!
Puts me at 15/24.

Hi bookworms! I just joined SIS a few days ago and was pretty excited when I saw this thread. Seriously, I gave up housework when I realized that it would impact my available reading time!
So I'm hoping you'll make room for one more :-) Because of the "no housework" thing, I read an awful lot so I'll set my goal at 50 for the rest of the year.
By the way, I really loved Angry Housewives too! I've ready all of Lorna Landvik's books and they are all quite good.
I just finished "Life of Pi" which I loved! But I am dying to discuss this book with someone else who has read it. So far, I haven't found anybody but I am hopeful that one of you has!

I've read Life Of Pi, Inky. I think I am in the minority of people who didn't like it. Maybe my expectations were too high? Maybe I didn't "get it" - whatever, I was dissapointed.
I've also given up on housework, what a waste of time! LOL

Is this good? I like her, I don't think I've heard of this one though.

um, I don't think I'd recommend it, especially in your current hormonal state. I made me feel sick, creeped-out, angry, and horrified, but still I read the whole thing in one sitting.

George RR Martin will rock your world!! I was totally into Robert Jordan and then I happened upon Game of Thrones in a bookstore in Utah and fell in love with his style and the way he writes fantasy!! If you love these you need to pick up Robin Hobb Apprentice Series!! She kicks some serious butt in the fantasy realm also!!
Ohhh!! Thanks for the Tip!! I am going to have to add those to my list...which currently sits at 9 books!!! oy. :)

Into the Wild by Erin Hunter- this is the first in a series and all the kids at school raved about these books so i told myself that i would read them this summer. I loved the first one!! Fantastic book for kids!!!
Stacijo!! Erin Hunter's books are so unbelievable! I got sucked in!! I read the entire first series in about a week! You will really enjoy them! If I hadn't just packed them all away I would send them to you, but at the moment they are about all the way at the back of a 5 X 10 storage unit that is packed to the edge!!

it is very long. or at least feels it at times. aaaaand, hmmmm. is it weird if i still havn't decided if it lived up to it? there were definitely times where i couldn't put it down. its wasn't as historically revealing to me as maybe other people. we learnt all the stuff that was in the book at school, and then in more depth from a feminist perspective at uni. i'm glad i read it just to say i read it :) you could grab this free copy allison, and decide then? you could always give it away if you don't want to read it ;)

i would say yes. but i read it before there was a lot of hype..or at least before i heard all the hype.
i love long books though. i read fast and want them to last a few days.
i say definitely worth the read.

me too - although it was one of the darkest books i've ever read. zoinks.
i didn't like Life of Pi either....
I just finished Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri - oh my - you all really must, right Kate? It's short stories, but with closure and they aren't all that short (40-50 pages) so you are able to get involved with the story.
I'm halfway through Good Earth by Pearl Buck - it is fascinating.
And I'm so impressed that 6 months into this challenge everyone is hanging tough! Nicely done sisters.
peace love read

Thanks for the thought Korbyn!!! I have all the books at my middle school library and like a dummy I just took the 1st one home. I'm going to sneak in this week and grab the others off the shelf!! I can't believe I waited so long to read it!!

I loved it. I think I've said it before. I really liked the first story...the father/grandson/daughter/aging one.
