That is very exciting. I know the feeling of wanting braces so bad. I wanted braces too. I am very self concious about my smile. Still to this day. Even after 2.5 years of braces.

The day I got braces:
Seventh grade. I had to cheerlead at a basketball game a few hours after they were on. After cheerleading, I got home and my mom had prepared pork chops. I had to eat one cold. It was painful. So strange how vividly I remember that.

I had them the 1st time from 4th to 9th grade. Invisaligns in 2004 for about 9 months. Then I had them for the 3rd, and final time, last year for 6 months. The results are fabulous, and I am so glad I did it. I now wear my retainer every single night!

How long do you have to wear them?

oh yah!
did you get a full set?

i had a full set for three years
freshman - junior year of hs
got them off two days before
i left to live in holland for three months
i remember being SO happy to have shiny straight teeth
to flash all those cute dutch boys
;D

love my teeth now
but hated the process
hated having them tightened
and i had to wear those little mini rubber band things
but my older brother had head gear
so i really can't complain!

so happy you're happy becks!!
you're going to be
even more beautiful after
than you already are!!

Do you have your wires in yet? When they first put my brackets on, they didn't put a wire in and I broke off 2 of them eating a peanut butter sandwich..i almost swallowed it!!!!

i had mine put on in 5th grade and got them off in 9th grade. my teeth have remained straight (thankfully)
but i still wore my retainer once in a while even after i was done. if i hadn't lost it 4 or 5 years ago - i'd probably still wear it, just to check if my teeth moved.

i hope you have much success with yours, and very little pain. ;)

I got braces. I got them on in May of 2007. Will have then on until February 2010. My teeth were horrible. They're looking good now. Going in for surgery next Friday to get a molar extracted to be able to push them back into place. I have a horrible over bite. I'm not going to lie to you. They hurt every time your wires get change. They're annoying. They're ugly, but the result in these last 10 months have been outstanding. I know they're going to be worth everything in the end. If you want a before and now pic I'll be more than happy to send you some through pm. I won't put them on here thought. They're horribly ugly. Kind of embarrassing.

My one word of advice.
WAX WAX WAX...keep it everywhere. because even after you've had them tightend for 2 weeks, they can start rubbing...
And the only pain meds that i've found that help are Aleve(i know, its bad stuff) but it works!!!

i chose clear. tom came home from work and didn't even notice for a while...so i'm not sure if he just didn't really look at me, or they aren't that noticable!

i'm already finding out about how important the wax is :)

So I got braces the first time a month before I started high-school and didn't get them off until 6 months after I graduated (4 1/2 years) and now 20 years later I had to get them again. I have this da$m tooth that nowadays they probably would pull, it faces inward (was turned to face outward) but started to turn back and is raising my gum line and screwing everything up. It has caused the damage so pulling it will do no good now. It is causing serious periodontal damage so I have to fix it with braces first to see if we can fix the majority of the problem and then go for the perio work. Looks like I will need a gum graft but a minor one.

So I hate them, absolutely hate them. I think it is because I had them on so long and they didn't bother me then but I just didn't want to do it again. And they hurt and my dumb ortho left a little wire on the end which is cutting into me. I hate the wax always have so I am just letting my mouth remember and slowly I am getting used to it.

What is amazing though as an adult, the minute I eat something I need to go brush and I don't remember that as an issue the first time around. I think when you are younger you don't notice. It's helping to curb my snacking so there is my silver lining.

Becky - you have a great attitude about it and you will love the results. I promise. I am just bitter. =)

I started Invisilign in Nov. and really am liking it. Love that I can still eat whatever I want and that I can take them out to brush and floss.

exactly! i had to brush the minute i finished dinner tonight...and eating is such a hassle, i think you're right about the silver lining! i have no desire to go to the trouble and have to clean everything up again!

we'll see about my attitude as time goes on! right now, i'm so excited to be doing what i wanted to do years ago....it may wear off!

i checked into those initially, but in my case it would have been more invasive, because they would have had to pull two teeth to make them work for me. so i went with braces.

My son got braces in august (just on the top for now) and I am shocked at how fast his teeth moved. There were several big gaps and a couple had to be pulled in more. It's such a huge difference. I wish we had done this a couple years ago.

apparently there's more to do in his mouth, but I'm so happy with this much!
