DH and I went to see the movie yesterday and I have so many questions that I'm pretty sure the book would explain. I normally wouldn't read a book like this, but I NEED answers! I'm afraid though, that it might scare me even more than the movie did and I'll end up having nightmares!
So if you have read it, is it a good read, does it explain things the movie left out, is it more frightening than the movie, and is it worth me losing sleep due to nightmares for a week of so?

I did enjoy the movie, especially the scene with Will Smith doing pull ups in the door way without his shirt!;)

wow, I didn't realize it was a book! I thought it was a remake of the Charleton Heston film, The Omega Man....

I haven't seen the movie nor read the book, but everyone keeps talking about this scene.

And when I say everyone I mean every woman. ;)

Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the movie.
I did like the shirtless Will Smith.
I thought that dog deserves an award for her acting.
I am sorry for Will's daughter because although it is cool to be in a movie with Daddy, her movie is not even close to being as good as the one he did with his son.....

The movie itself -
Uh..... Been there, done that - Crazy creatures wanna eat everybody, good guy, bad guy, throw in some flashbacks, add a cute animal, show some skin (luckily it was a yummy guy instead of the usual brainless bimbo with the fake boobs... )
Yeah yeah yeah......... Yadda yadda yadda......

I wish I had waited for the DVD.......

Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the movie.

This is exactly why I want to read the book (maybe). Although I did enjoy the movie, they always seem to gloss over/skip/or change important details from the book, and the book is usually better.

Is Omega Man a good movie?

Is Omega Man a good movie?

I think so, but it's very old LOL...it's around the same time frame as his movie Soylent Green....

I havent' seen I am Legend, it's just what I heard, that it was a remake, but I coulda heard totally wrong!

I thought it was really good which is why I'm interested in reading the book. If the movie was poorly done, I don't think I'd care to invest more time in the story line. I'm just worried about nightmares! lol

I have read the book, but haven't seen the movie. From what people tell me about the movie, there are some major differences between the book and movie in respect to the "monsters", main characters and the ending. The theme of the movie and the book is also different, the reader/watcher comes away with a different "moral." From what I've heard about the movie, the book is loosely based on the book. If you want me to be more detalied just ask. I just didn't want to spoil it for you if you decide to read it.

So I definetly would like to read the book but the movie really scared me! lol! I'm a wimp I know. The story is pretty dark though and the night creatures definetly creeped me out, but they are where I have most of the questions that the movie left me with.

Now that I know the book has main characters, not just one, and a different ending, I'm definetly going to pick it up. Is it well written?

Thanks justtwix:)

I bought the book for my man for Christmas, but he has no interest in reading it. Maybe I'll scam it from him-

books are always better

Okay, so my man just watched the movie (I half-watched it with no sound cause it was totally creeping me out) and he said he felt like it ended about halfway through the story. Liked it though-

Oh my gosh Jennifer! How old is your son?

There was a couple, as we were leaving the theater, that brought their young son (mayber 4 or 5), and they had to sit for awhile because his mom was rocking him, trying to console him as he lay fetal position in her arms! The poor little guy probably hasn't slept in his own bed since then.

Obviously your son isn't 4 or 5 lol! I'd love to hear how he likes the book.

Genoveva, if I was watching this at home, I know I would have walked out of the room more then once. As it was, my face was buried in my husband's shoulder for most of the movie!

So I'm not the only wimp? No sound helped a ton, but I don't want to see those creepies!

that brought their young son (mayber 4 or 5
What were they thinking?! Did they make him watch the whole thing? I sure hope not.

Yes, poor baby saw the whole thing! My dh and I agreed that if you come into a movie not knowing what to expect, once you see what its about and how intense it is, one of you should take the little guy out (maybe to the theater showing Enchanted).
My mom had bad movie sense when I was growing up, and needless to say, I slept in her bed a lot!
