allison, i think we have really similar taste in music! almost all the songs you listed are ones that i love, too! and the ones i don't recognize, well, i'll have to give those a listen sometime soon.

here's some of my fave mellow music:
near you always - jewel cailin - unwritten law rest of my life - unwritten law rocksteady - marc broussard anything by ben harper how good it can be - the 88 frame by frame - the honorary title
and i'm completely in love with the dixie chicks' album "taking the long way". every song on that album is great, but Easy Silence, So Hard, and Lullaby are my faves.

sigur ros – vaka (sigur ros is interesting. i think it's categorized as "post modern rock" but it's almost instrumental/meditation music. but it's really pretty and calming.it's not for everyone, but i personally love it)
