So yesterday I was reading Danielle T's blog and she had a great post about natural food and living. In the comments section there was a link to Story of Stuff, the video was 20 minutes long, but soooo informative. It definitely gave me a new perspective on consumer consumption in the U.S. I thought it was really fascinating and thought that other may like to watch it.

I did see that. Amazing isn't it. We have done things around here to be more "green". One of my favs, by far, is reuseable grocery bags. I wish we would have done that sooner. THey are SOOOO much better, easier to carry and I can bring in my groceries in one trip! LOVE those bags!

Definitely one of those "Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmm"

It is so true - sad but true -
Everything is about buy-buy-buy
Oh, it's old - throw it out.
What's the latest - last week's is no good.

What did they say????????? USA only has like 5% of it's forrests???
WHAT??????????????????????????

I am a serious pack rat. I cant throw anything out. I recycle. I re-use.
On the other hand I DO feed into the gotta have the latest craze.

Sometimes I wish I could just run away from it all and live in a place where I could just have my stuff and be happy with it until it dies....
Where I dont have to impress anyone with labels (not that I can afford labels but you know what I mean..........)

I am just about to throw out my "downstairs stove". (My Mother had a kitchen downstairs and I had one upstairs and since she died I obviously do not need two.......)
I was just telling my boyfriend that we bought that stove in 1985.......
It still works but it is OLD and I need to convert to only one kitchen so we're bringing the other one down.
At least I definitely got my moneys worth out of the old one.
I cant understand how people throw things (like stoves, refrigerators, etc) out just because "oh, I'm bored of white - I think I want stainless....."

I dont know..........
The whole situation with things being so "disposable" these days and the whole thing with "global warming" is enough to make you get so depressed.....

The only thing I can say is more power to the people who recycle.
To the people who re-use.
To the people who give to charity.
To the people who plant trees and flowers........

Why do I suddenly want to go out and hug a squirrel????????????????????

Freecycle.org

a place to post the things you want to get rid of. Someone who needs the item will come and pick it up rather than it ending up in a landfill. I have been a member for years now. I have gotten things I wanted but didn't want to purchase. For example. I got an iron. I wanted it for crafts but didn't want to get a new one only to muck it up with goop. SOmeone had one they were going to toss. I snatched it up and love it and use it. Now it is here and not in a landfill. Check it out!
