Hey girls!
You guys are all doing so good! good for you for supporting eachother...it really helps!
Last year I lost 27lbs just by counting calories and cutting out soda completely. not even diet soda. I went to this website...calorie-count.com you put in your age, hieght and current wieght...it will tell you what your ideal weight is, how many calories you should eat a day and how long it will take you to reach your goal. It was a real help to me last year. You can also find the calorie count to just about ANY food on the planet there. OR you can upload your own recipe and it will calculate the calories for you based on serving size.
I'm geared up to lose another 15lbs by summer time. I go at it slow...I don't obsess over it, I just try and keep track of the calories. I write everything I eat down on paper...seeing it visually really helps me a lot.
Good luck to you all!
I know we can do this!!

still no sugar! Day 2 of no sugar for me! No processed carbs either! Lots of protein and veggies. Hopefully it will get easier and I can move on to getting rid of more fat in my diet.

HOw do I exercise when it is 0 degrees outside?????? I won't go to the mall. Not when I am trying to lose weight and save money. To many temptations. Not in front of the tv either! I HATE WINTER! Like seriously don't like it!

You could do a dance party...we did one the other night with my kids and I was sweating up a storm. My kids loved it too. I have our New Year's Eve music list on my blog right now...if you need some rocking tunes. WARNING: Many songs have innappropriate lyrics...my kids are clueless.

That's what we did on New Year's Eve!! It was so much fun!! We called it Kitchen Disco, since that's where the spontaneous dancing occurred. My DH took photos of the whole thing . . . although you won't get me to share them here! LOL!

I do a variety of things, because here its 0 outside too!
I just realized I Love snow shoeing, but other things are
going up and down the steps(laundry day)
playing super hero with my 4 yr old. I lay on my back and
let him balance his body on my feet and lift him up in the air(this really works the legs and belly.
i have 5lb dumbells that I life while watching Y&R(I don't feel guilty while watching then)
I can't do excersize videos either, they normaly end with me on the couch watching her while i'm eating Cheetos. No good.
Like I said, you'll just have to do what works for you. I do the steps ALOT at my house. on these fridgid winter days, I just pray that its something!!!

I was doing ok yesterday until I decided to bake a carrot cake. I just had a hankering...and it was sooo good. Unfortunately, there is still most of the 13X9 cake left and it's calling my name, saying, "Tracy, oh Tracy! I would taste really good with that cup of coffee...you know you want me." I do want him, er, it... but I WILL NOT start my day off like that. I WILL have oatmeal instead.

Oh god, you said coffee! AHHHHH.....I can't drink coffee without a truck load of sugar and creamer. Yeah, I am having that feeling like I am a crack addict again right now....

MUST GET MIND OFF SUGAR! Dude, I quit smoking and it was no big deal. I would rather quit smoking than do this. Seriously!

Okay...a walked for an hour this morning, biked to the PO with the kids (it's 50 degrees here) dodging the snow piles and did my SlimFast for B and L...fruit for snacks. And lots of black coffee. I gave up 1/2 & 1/2 for 2008. And water.

I'm lucky (???) to be a little on the sick side (sore throat) so I'm not feeling hungry like usual.

Someone please remind me of this in a couple days when I fall off the wagon!

I do feel like this board is helpful though!!

Did most of my planned exercises again this morning. Need to do some more sit ups, but I'm headachy today. I get like this right before it rains. It's hard to do situps when I have a partial headache.

Eating wise....doing okay. No cookies today...yet. I mean, will. NOT. have. cookies. today. Oh, we threw those out last night. YEAH!

This board IS helpful. Very. I need someone else to be aware of my habits other than me. 'Cause then I'm more likely to be good.

Heather....you're done w/ coke for the day!! You had one. You can do this.

Traci....way to go on the no sugar thing. KEEP IT UP!!! But, remember it's okay to have a small amount of something.

Anyone try the Atkins diet?! I lost 9.5 lbs in one week w/o exercising. I didn't mean to. I meant to exercise. Just didn't. And I had cut out so many of the things I usually eat and changed my diet so radically, that I was buying new pants at the end of one week. Then I went on vacation....so it slowly went back on. But, I want to do it again.

I got on my stationary bike for 25 minutes after work and plan on getting back for another 20 at least.
I had oatmeal and toast for dinner instead of fixing a cheese quesadilla.

I did have a couple of pieces of chocolate though- not too much though ; )

I'm Bad Bad Bad. I had not one. Not two. Not three. But FOUR cookies after dinner. They were just SOOOO good. After dinner is when I have to start using the most self dicipline. This is the time of day when I want to munch and snack. UGH!!

{{{{hanging my head in shame}}}}}

Tomorrow is a new day. No cookies.

birthday dinners get free passes!

What about when Aunt Flo visits?? Does that get a free pass, too? 'cause for like 2-3 days while she's visiting I just want to EAT!!! UGH. and UGH again. (btw....I don't mean she's not here now, so I have no excuse for the cookies. But, she will visit again someday....and I am going to have to write down EVERYTHING I eat at that time, 'cause it gets frightful!)

yeah, I had a banana for "breakfast" odd day...and some popcorn. But then, I had half a burrito and just a lil rice and beans (we had Mexican with my sis and kids). No exercise, except playing Wii, and Hey, I think that counts, I was out of breath a lil and had to take off my sweater, and one of my 3 pairs of socks, lmao! I already have food prepared for tomorrow. A banana and (wish I had some SlimFast-gotta get some) and a biscotti for breakfast lol, hopefully with a lil coffee-I will try to not add too much to it...And pretzels for a snack, and a Lean cuisine for lunch. I have Tilapia filets for dinner, with some veggies and maybe white rice...We'll see how it all pans out tho. I think it does help to plan ahead-otherwise Im scrambling around last min making bad (or no) choices and thats not cool for my "lose weight in 08" challenge. Thats what Im calling it...good luck to all you on 1-4-08!

I was out of breath a lil and had to take off my sweater,

LOL, that is priceless...I think taking off the sweater burned some calories too!

OK, I completed day two of Weight Watchers and my mom and I have now walked two days in a row in frigid temperatures. I can't say I'm getting too much of a workout walking with Mona since her legs are like a foot shorter than mine (and she's 66 and everything), she doesn't walk too terribly fast. Pretty much I'm just strolling right now...but it's about developing the habit right now, so I'm just concerned with getting up each morning and getting out there...baby steps, ladies baby steps... :)

Ok...day 3 now...(right?)

SHould we start a new day everyday? Or just keep this one going?
I think we should have one for each day. Kind of like the POD

So, i've been good today even though its my birthday and I don't have to be good!
breakfast- hard boiled eggs and whole wheat peanut butter toast
lunch- homeade salsa and blue tortilla chips(no diet coke)
now, i'm about to forget the whole thing. My hubby is making a mean dinner and my son decided we need to eat chocolate cake for dessert.
I'll eat 1/2 piece and then bring the rest to the crop tomorrow!!!!

Hows everyone doing on this fabulous Friday??

i'm new on this thead but what a great one!!!
i'm just finishing up my 2nd day of south beach diet. the hardest time of the day is late afternoon when i get home from work - kids are snacking and i'm starving! i ate a tomato and it did hold me over. i just wish i had the motivation to go to the gym. i'm up at 6am - get myself done, then my kids, off to work i go and i'm home at 4 - exhausted i might add. i teach a toddler pre-school program so i'm running all day!!! this past summer i went to the gym a minimum of 4 days a week - all that work and poof it's all gone. i'm hoping to get my motivation up if i lose a couple pounds in the next 2 weeks with the south beach.
if anyone has any good south beach recipes (phase 1) please pass it on!!!!
- in my next life i'm coming back as a thin person!!!

No exercise yet today. Probably won't, either. I have a headache. Daughter is sick. And I have to make good on my "I will play pokemon w/ you, I promise" to my son.

but, eating wise....all I have had is water, coffee and a lean cuisine for lunch. So, I've been doing okay there.

Gotta exercise tomorrow.

I did South Beach (a year or more ago now). (I think I called it Atkins in an earlier post. But, it was South Beach I did.) Do you have the book? I used the recipes out of the book.

And I think Wii counts. Be active. That matters.

I did not last long on So Beach when I tried it. I had better luck with The Zone - very similar and you CAN eat fruit. But I think it also has to do with your frame of mind when you start. Good luck!!

I walked this morning for an hour...fruit for breakfast and turkey sandwich for lunch. I think I'm doing SlimFast for dinner and FFree popcorn for a snack later...it is Family Movie Night you know;)

I have on/off knee problems...arthritis (makes me feel like a geezer) and walking everyday makes the pain go away. It's very motivating for me right now!!! I just feel like I'm too young to be plagued/slowed down by something that I can alleviate by getting off my rump. But consistency is key with this...EVERY day. And losing some weight (ahem) can't hurt.

Okay done rambling...have a great weekend!!!!

what messed up diet doesn't allow you to eat fruit!?!?

what's awesome is that being nauseous from med withdrawal really keeps me from being overly interested in food. yay?

I was doing South Beach. I am done. Lasted two days. It is just not realistic when I have two kids and a husband to cook for. I am not making two meals. I need to learn to eat the way I am suppose to eat for the rest of my life, and SOuth Beach is not a rest of the life kinda thing.

Whew. Done. Now, for another plan! LOL! I have to do this!!!
