Ok everyone, I said I was doing this and I AM! I REALLY sincerely need your support. I can't go through this only to feel like a failure, again!
Who else needs the support to get fit this year????
Any great words of advice or support would be greatly appreciated!

me, me, me!!!!!
So my goal this year is to drop 2 sizes, 30 lbs and most importantly I want to be able to run around GreenLake which is 2.8 miles without stopping at a decent pace.
No words of advice from me - just that we can do it if we put our minds to it.

Yes, we can do it! I totally want to lose some of this belly - I've had it!! My goal for today is: eat decent food, exercise even a little bit, and try not to obsess about it. Oh, and drink more water. Water is good.

Well, last year was my weight loss year . . . I dropped about 20 lbs. But I am back on the exercise wagon, since I've fallen off lately. So you can count me in. I'd love to drop about 8 more pounds and be at my pre-kid weight once again!!
Go, girls!!!

me too.
for the most part i dont eat that unhealthy. its the times i eat becuase my work schedule is weird.
i feel that if i would really cut out the fast food and exercise i would lose weight. i dont have a goal for pounds or size i just want to be healthy. i would like to make working out part of my routine 5 out of 7 days. working 35 hours a week and taking 12 hours of school make it impossible to get to a gym. plus i cant afford the membership. i have a really good biggst loser dvd that has a six week workout routine on it. that is what i want to start with. then i hope to be able to afford a step aerobics dvd and step.
good luck ladies. its always nice to have encouragement!!!

traci - i am sooo on board!
my goals are to exercise (i don't at all now). i plan to actually use our treadmill. i will walk to start, but would love to be a runner. gotta get some good sports bras first though. ;)
i also need to eat healthier. i need to severly limit my soda intake. coca cola is my friend. i turn to it whenever i am stressed and just when it sounds good. but, i need to loose those calories and find another thing to do when stressed. i need to eat more fruits and veggies. there are days i eat none. they are rare, but they exist.
how should we help each other out?

I'm in! I eat very well, but age caught up (and dealing with my first winter in five years last year didn't help since I used to walk outside a few miles a day when we were in the south) and the metabolism slowed down. I am trying to be more active and tone and firm up. I got a bit of a jump-start this past week when my brother gave me the stomach flu for Christmas (nice, eh?) and I lost 3.5 lbs. Haven't gained any of it back so far, so YEAH ME!! Not my preferred method, but I'll look on the bright side of that situation . . .

i'm definatly not one to take advice from, since i down about 4 dr. peppers a day, but..
i have found that if i buy cute workout clothes (esp. if i go to a gym) i am a tad more motivated to go to the gym. plus, it's an excuse to go shopping!

I'm all into exercising...would love to be able to go 2x a day but my children tie me down!! I have to get up waaay early to go and I've been bad lately. But I started up my routine last week.
My problem? I need my jaw wired shut. And moving to the land of microbreweries is not the best for the waistline (like I even have one anymore). And four weeks of intensive holiday cookie baking was not a good idea either.
So my pants are tight and it disgusts me. I'm all over this.

My belly, just gets bigger and bigger, UGH!!!! I totally knew this was going to happen after my hysterectomy, but it's been almost 7 years and I haven't done a thing!!!
We CAN do this girls!!!

Hi girls, count me in as well. I really need to be healthier and want to lose weight before I get married and have babies and put more weight on. Also, lol, my sis is getting married in June and I had to buy a plus size gown-for the first time ever (had to pay extra and everything for the extra fabric) the lady said it was because w/bridesmaid dresses you have to order against your biggest size and for me that is surely my chest-aka "the girls" lol, so I really want them to be able to cut as much fabric off as possible!!! For the soda drinkers-I cut that out for the most part last Lent. I love soda but I know it is not good for my body or for my face-it had really cleared up after I cut out the good ol cola, but now Im on a quest for clear skin again and a healthier lifestyle. I work and am in school too-and I am going to take advantage of the personal trainers at my school-the first 3 sessions are free! And I will work out between classes or after work if possible-not sure of the gym hours...I think we just need support from each other and to really WANT this. It is hard when life gets in the way but we owe it to ourselves and our families to be healthy...I have a small apartment but I really do want one of those yoga/exercise balls to use at the computer, instead of a chair and I think that will help even when I am reading or something for school. Its all a conscious effort to change our ways & that is the hardest I think...at least for myself, I mean well-but its those first steps that are the hardest but, the most important for a new me in 2008! If I had the money, I would love to have a personal trainer/dietician all the time-but I just think that I need some important tips & info and that I can do it-if i put my mind to it, I know that I can do anything, and so can you ladies. Maybe someone can make a blog about it, and we can all subscribe and post our progress there and exchange email addys so that we can like sponsor each other...Just an idea b/c I know how hard it is to go at this weight loss thing alone-and even harder to tell someone close to us how much we weigh or if we gained instead of lost one week....let me know if anyone is interested in this and good luck to us all!!

I am in! I have a LARGE amount of weight I want to lose. I am not sure what my plan of attack is yet. I should of probably thought about it, but I've been really busy the last 2 weeks.
I am back though, hopefully and am totally in on this whole thing.
I need to lose about 100 lbs. I know it's a ton, but it's the truth.
I am all up for advice, and new ideas!

I'm totally making improved health and vitality one of my new year's goals, and knowing that weight loss will come along with it. I am a past athlete who took being active every day for granted.....fast forward after 2 kids, 3 moves....and totally eliminating exercise from my routine last year, and I am in a place that I need to move away from in 2008......
......maybe it would be helpful to set up weekly thread where we could report in, give each other encouragement, give motivational tips and recipes, etc.......are Mondays best for everyone? Or maybe we want to stay away from Mondays?

Here are a couple of small things that we can all for a start:
*park in the farthest parking spot so you are forced to walk more *take the steps instead of elevator *if possible, take short breaks at work and get up and move - walk to the next office to deliver a report instead of emailing, do a lap around the floor *if you can't spend 20 consecutive minutes doing something, break it up - 5 minutes here and there is better than nothing
one site that I have used in the past that you may want to check out is sparkpeople.com
good luck to us all!

a plan??? no, traci, i don't have one. other than to get rid of Coke as a daily thing and start walking the treadmill.
i like the idea of a weekly update. it would help to have to share how things were going.
i've got about 30 lbs i'd like to loose as a start.

Ok, so every week I will post the thread. This week, think about what kind of support you need and then post it so we can give you that support.
Anyone with weight loss books, experience, advice, recipes and jokes (gotta laugh, right) can post them to the current thread. I have a few books. I will go through them and post some of the ideas/tips each week.
If you need to post here each morning to say what you are going to do each day, please do that. I might have to do that. It works best for me if I have a plan each day.
WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!! SIS is the best!!!!
THanks for the support you guys!!!

I have been working on my weight loss since August 8th. I have lost a total of 29 pounds so far since I started Weight Watchers. I have had my days where I am gung ho and fully working it and then there are those valley days. I definitely would be on board with a support system on here! My goal is to loose 73 more pounds. That will be a total of 102 on Weight Watchers!

THis is a great idea! We have POD thread, maybe we need to have someone start a daily health thread. Keep everyone motivated and at the same time getting ideas on different recipes and workouts. YAY!!

Yes! Do it.
I quit drinking soda last July, because I kept getting this ulcer from it. The week of 4th of July, I drank way more soda, especially Moutain Dew, than normal, and it killed my stomach. I was in so much pain from it, that I said enough is enough and haven't touched it since.
It was really easy to do, which surpised me. I drink way more water now, than I used too. My skin feels better, but I pee way more than I used too. lol

Yes, I'm up for actively healthing up my lifestyle. I can't/won't "diet". I have put on way too much weight that way, plus it leads to bulimia issues and head games for me.
But I'm all psyched to go thru my cupboards and get rid of the CRAP. (Ooops, can I say that?) ;) Dh and I have just slipped into the junk/convenience food trap and I'm sick of it and how it makes me feel.
I don't have a plan, per se (I tend to think in terms of all or nothing - I even mentioned this on an earlier post and if I "mess up" then I "give up") so no set plan for me. More like goals I'm aiming for - such as:
Try to walk at LEAST up my driveway and back as often as possible (it's 1/4 mile long, so that's 1/2 mile right there). And eventually further. I've gotten a cute little journal where I can put a big ol' "X" on the days I do that. Hopefully, there will be lots of them...
Get rid of the junk so I'm not tempted to just grab that instead of making something healthy
Buy (and EAT) more fruits and veggies (i DO love 'em - this shouldn't be a problem
PLAN meals ahead of time and get groceries - no excuses
Write down what I eat just to keep myself aware (in that cute little journal)
I am going to cut out one thing - soda. I rarely drink it - I'm a water girl - but when I do I always want to have chips or something similar with it. So, I've decided I can totally live without it
I am not going to eat unless I'm hungry and I'm going to STOP eating when I'm full (not stuffed)
And finally, no more eating crap late at night in front of the computer! The way I plan to resolve that problem is to just go to bed earlier.
And that means NOW! :)
I'd love some support and some inspo to just keep aiming for HEALTH. I (personally) am NOT going to talk about numbers. That just frustrates the heck out of me and makes me begin to obsess. IF I lose some weight as a side benefit - great. I just want to be a good steward with the body I have - treat it well and not carelessly. And my plan is to just become more conscious of how I am doing that and to keep gently steering myself back towards that goal... Feeling better, having better blood pressure and cholestoral counts, etc. will be the best reward. Losing weight will be icing on the proverbial cake! :)
Thanks SISters for all your help. I wanna be here for you, too! :)
