For the past few years of my management retail life I had a boss that was only concerned about making herself look good and not developing the staff. Not to mention the fact that working retail made me a very unpleasent person to be around.
But I've switched jobs and my boss is the best. She understands that I'm new to what I'm doing and takes to the time to explain things to me. We sit down each week and go over things that need to be done and brainstorm on other issues, as a team. She gave me a great christmas gift, cash to go buy something that I needed which means she listens to me. She's taking me out to lunch today for Christmas and even though we are down a person in our department she's letting me take my vacation that I requested months ago.
So if you have a boss that rocks your hizouse make sure you tell them, and if you don't make sure they get a lump of coal in their stocking this year!
I guess the least I could do is not giggle when she talks about playing in the bush when she grew up in Africa. Oh and getting to work on time would be a good thing for me to do as well, need to put that on the things I need to work on list.

that is so Awesome Sara!! I love my boss too...even though sometimes she makes me waste my time looking for weird things online! but I luv her! she is awesome and has been through a lot this year, so I try my darndest to do everything I can to help her!! Great Bosses are awesome!! :)

I need to find a nice boss. Maybe one of those that goes with a nice job too.

That is awesome Sara! Lucky you! My bosses scream, throw temper tantrums, and I even have to wipe their backsides!! ugh, I don't even get a paycheck! LOL! :)

That is great Sara, I hope that she knows how much you appreciate her (even when recounting her "wild" days in South Africa;)
And Traci, I'm with you...my bosses can be quite the little tyrants:) but I can't say that I would trade them for the world (I mean who would crack me up like they do on a daily basis?)

Yeah Sonja I know what you mean. My son had a good one the other night. For some reason it cracked me up. It went something like this:
Daddy: "So Grant what did you take today for show and tell."
Grant: "My butt."
Daddy: "What? What did you say about it?"
Grant: "It shakes."
Disclaimer: Grant did not do this, he is four and was just teasing his dad.

i was just reading through replies w/o looking at who posted.
i was like geez..screaming and temper tantrums, that sucks, but i know some bosses do that.
and then the whole, wipe their backside thing totally threw me off.
i'm thinking, who makes employees do that???
and then i realized it was you...
kids...lol.

yeah allison, that's my life....everyday! But I get a lot of laughs too.
Hmmm...maybe we should start a bad boss thread. I have a few stories from back in the day.....

Sounds like we have the same boss.
They DO NOT take me to lunch. Nor do they "brainstorm ideas with me"....they TELL ME WHAT TO DO!
Sara, I'm glad you have such a great boss. Seriously. They are hard to come by.
