i do like her actual recipies. 30 min. meals and cooking for 2 are ones i always thumb through at barnes and noble but never buy.

my goal is to learn to cook really well before i get married so we won't starve or get ginormously fat eating out 3 meals every day..lol.

I'm on the fence about her. Of course, DH loves to watch her!! I do like some of the things she makes, just cause they look easy and I'm just not a cook!! Maybe a new cook book would help me out???!!!

Ok, I'll admit, I like Rachael Ray. There. I said it. LOL! What can I say, I'm a sucker for a quick fix meal! Now the catch phrases are a bit much but I do like her cooking.

So I guess you can count me in on the drawing! LOL!

I like Rachael.
She's not my all time favorite but I do like her.
I like when she does the "Bottom of the Jar Recipes".
That's my style.
I look in the fridge, shelves, etc and see what I have.
Throw it all together and somehow it tastes okay.

We may not live large but nobody starves.......

totally on the fence about her. Used to love her when I FIRST started watching food network, but now that her show is on regular tv I think that she "jumped the shark"

I also don't find her recipes to be all that practical and easy.

If you want to talk about a good chef and good show you need to check out the Barefoot Contessa - LOVE HER!!!!!!!

You can order her cookbooks from her website and for an extra 5 bucks (at least that was last year) she will sign it!

what did you make?

A friend of mine made the bread pudding that uses 2 dozen (yes two dozen) Krispy Kremes. It was a bit over the top.

And if you'll notice Paula isn't thin...krispy kreme's and a stick a butter for every recipe could be the reason why...

My mom used to have a sign that said:
Never trust a skinny cook.
:o)

Chicken Fettucine Salad
Super Delicious...Super Yummy...Super Cold.
Credit to the amazing Paula Deen.

4 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 teaspoons House Seasoning, recipe follows
2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 (9-ounce) packages fresh fettucine
2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 cup chopped green onions, green part only, plus extra for garnish
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
Tomato wedges, for garnish

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Slice the chicken breasts lengthwise into 1-inch wide strips. Place chicken on a baking sheet, sprinkle it with 1 teaspoon of House Seasoning and all of the thyme, and then drizzle it with olive oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through but still juicy; do not overcook. While the chicken is cooking, cook the pasta according to package directions.

Drain the pasta, rinse it in cold water, and drain it again. Pat the excess moisture off the pasta with a paper towel if necessary, and put the pasta in a large bowl for tossing.
Remove the chicken from the baking sheet and set aside. Pour the juices from the baking sheet into a medium bowl. To the bowl, add the mayonnaise, green onions, parsley, basil, the remaining teaspoon of House Seasoning, and the seasoning salt, and stir until well blended. Pour the dressing over the pasta and toss gently. Place the chicken strips on top of the pasta. Garnish with tomato wedges and additional sliced green onions.

This dish can be made 1 day before serving.

House Seasoning:
1 cup salt
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup garlic powder

Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

and everyone asks for the recipe...
and then they make it...
and everyone asks...
its the recipe that keeps on going.
and its amazing.
the combination of the tomatoes and green onions...
is YUM-O
hee hee...

Check this out.

snarky- sarcastic, impertinent, or irreverent tone or manner

How on Earth did I get this far in life without this word, or being called it? This is totally a rhetorical question.

Okay, I am done now. Sorry for the thread high jack, just lovin' my new word!
