so at this point there isn't anything you can do because you really can't do anything while it is still raining.
The leaking is pretty minor in the boys room this year which is good. So whatever we did last year worked.
But whatever happened in the family room is bad, it is seeping all under the floor and into our room so the bottom of my closet is a squishy mess.
We are probably going to have to rip out all of the flooring downstairs, check for any mold issues and honestly no idea what we do then.
It looks to be just coming up from the ground. It was the 2nd rainiest day in Seattle history. Rained the equivalent of 6 of the lakes nearby me. Was a lot of rain so the water table is just super high and probably everyone around here is suffering from rain.
Lots of other folks are much worse off so I can't complain.
Thanks for the offer deanna. =)

So glad things are clearing up, ladies.
My friend in Oly told me he had to ride his bike through a foot and a half of water to get into the office yesterday. Now THAT'S a workout!
Tracy -- sorry to hear about your floors. :( I feel for you, girl.

I'm so happy the rain stopped! We have a bit of blue sky too! I'm not hopeful that it will last. hehe.
Glad you got home okay, Pamela!
And T, that sucks! Your attitude is amazing - I'd be so frustrated!

I was so pissed off yesterday but my husband was very calm and reminded me that now that it has happened there isn't a whole lot you can do so what is there to be pissed about. His logic is helping slightly. =)
Thanks you guys for all the warm wishes. It is what it is. We have a small craftsman house and took a chance when we refinished the basement to increase our living space. (It was originally 950 square feet but now is 1900 square feet) so it's the chance you take. We never had water issues before we did the basement but the last two years have been really hard on Seattle in the rain department so we are not the only ones hit and others are hit so much harder and don't have insurance so I think we will be ok.
Thank god for blue sky.

uhhhgg....and to think. When I was watching the news way back on Saturday after the snow (and wishing for more snow for a snow day on Monday), they said it would flood and I thought to myself "Yeah...but I live in Seattle...in the city...and it doesn't flood here..."
Fastforward two short days and they closed the offramp from 518 I take to get home from work. Few two many folks skiddin' out and sloshing through FEET of water (not inches, feet...craziness). I almost had to go pick up my BFF's familiy from the airport cause i5 was closed in Centralia. Which makes sense because when it rains two spits out there that stretch is an accident waiting to happen.
But the worst part? I'm watching the news last night and they're talking about urban landslides and they show a picture. And I'm like "huh. Why does that look so FAMILIAR?" Evidently, the apartment I moved out of start of this year was a few houses down from a huge landslide out here in North Burien on Shorewood Drive. Just like Pamela said...yeah million dollar homes which in a past life I'd be all "well, you live on the edge of paradise you deal with the risks" but man...not summer homes on Shorewood, families getting ready for Christmas and all. Same folks who last year throughout the great black out got to watch their neighbors across the street on the other side of the hill blaze up the fully lit Christmas yards while they sat in the freezing dark waiting for power to be restored.
Sigh. The irony of it all? It was crazy WARM here (like almost 60 degrees...in December) so it felt great to be outside...aside from the gale force winds and driving rain and all.

no kidding.... i was like...helllo... my car isn't suppose to be going that direction... it's suppose to be the way the stearing wheel is pointed... hahahahaha!
cause i5 was closed in Centralia I think the whole city of chehalis and centralia are under water....
poor people!
glad everyone is safe..(i think...)

still had to drive a different way to work and will have to home too.
the destruction this storm has done is just amazing! lots of grossness everywhere. if one road isn't closed, the other is...
main roads too...
so, it's a little soggy, but all is well in pamela-land...
keeping the others severely affected by this nasty-ness in my thoughts and prayers...
