It seems fitting that instead of a moment of silence we observe a moment of noize at the passing of Quiet Riot front man Kevin Dubrow. After all, he did bring us what is quite possibly one of the top 5 rock anthems of all time: cum on feel the noize

I am totally not being sarcastic, for once. I heard that he passed today and they were playing lots of Quiet Riot on the radio and it bummed me out.

Ok - back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I completely agree. The secretary at work called me up to her desk to tell me, since she knew I was "of that era". That song was totally my sophomore year of high school in a nutshell.

He was really pretty young -- only 52. That's sad. :(

I know. Your sophomore year? Crap, I was like in 8th grade. Maybe 7th. Yikes!

Okay, that's two times in less than 20 minutes I was made to feel old. I said "Righteous" to my 10 year old son, and he said, "Mom. Do. NOT. ever say that again." LOL.

Love,
Granny

OMG-I was in the kitchen putting dinner together and I thought you dumba$$ that was adding backward!!! I was thinking that made me older than you and oh jeez. Foot in mouth. big time. But I still say righteous so it's ok. :)

I remember riding the bus to school listening to that song. Good times.

Love,
Embarrassed

Okay...now, here's a flashback.

As soon as I read Quiet Riot and the song, Cum on Feel the Noize, I was instantly transported back to a tiny school bus going to private school and our busdriver had a huge boombox (yes, you read that right) and she loved this tape (again, you read that right!) and I have every single word memorized to this very day.

Wow...talk about things that take you back. RIP, Kevin Dubrow.

Yeah, I saw he had died today too. I remember the song well.

Pooks, did you know one of the other band members lives in Racine? My boss had to go to his Mom's house where he lives and hook him up to the ankle bracelet. He was a client of ours.

Dear Embarrassed,

It's okay. Old(er) age does that to a person. I speak from experience.

Love, Granny

Traci . . . I had no idea! Ankle bracelet??? Sounds like an upstanding citizen.

I know that the lead singer from REO Speedwagon married a girl from Racine, and still comes here to visit often.

Yes, the lead singer from Chicago and girl from Racine were friends of another friend of mine. I believe she was in their wedding.

Yeah, pretty much! LOL! Actually I don't think his charges were too terribly bad, I laugh that you didn't comment on the My boss had to go to his Mom's house where he lives I put it out there cause I thought you would have a great one liner for it! :)

How sad - their album got me interested in heavy metal, like so many other people. Let's see I was in 6th or 7th grade. Hmm 1983??? Can't even remember.

And Leslie - if you are a granny I wanna look just like you!

=)

Here's another nugget: metal health (bang your head)

1983 sounds about right, but I am obviously not mathematically gifted. LOL

Classy

Cum on Feel the Noize

QR made misspelling cool and dirty...and I'm not bringing up years or grades.

I'm 29

Dude . . . I think I'm the one who is senile, and Weebbt's math skillz are fine. I was a sophomore in 1985 . . . and you're telling me the song was popular in 1983. Obviously my memory fails me. Perhaps I am thinking of Twisted Sister . . .

And, my dear Buttinsky . . . I do appreciate the kind words. ;-)

Do we know how he died?

Was found dead in his residence...no forced entry...waiting for autopsy results.
