My daughter has a list on the fridge. Most items are under the heading, "no chance in h-e-double toothpicks", like a cell phone, ipod, and dog. Then she had ATV on there. I said, "you want an all terrain vehicle, honey?" And she said, "no, a t.v." That's more reasonable. LOL
I'm thinking you should avoid aqua dots.

Aqua dots was like the number on item on my son's list - needless to say it's off.
I think we are going with activities and stuff for gifts.

My 5 1/2 year-old DD is Littlest Pet Shop crazy...she also had an older (7) friend over earlier this year who had a Webkins puppy...he went online & showed her how to play games and win points, so she is all over that (I got her a pink, glittery pony...aren't I a good mom...uh, I mean, elf?!) :D
She also likes RescuPups (similar to Webkins, you go online with a special code) and Island Princess Barbie; overall I'm not a Barbie fan but my mom got it for her. The Barbie will soon be naked and headless in her closet, but hey. I didn't buy it for her.
In her stocking, I've got some (more, sigh) Beanies, and a box of simple magic tricks.
Sorry, no 11 year-olds in the house, but DD's friend is 11 and they play Littlest Pet Shop together (although I think the 11 year old is growing out of it...and into Pokemon cards).
HTH!

I've got an 11, almost 12 {gasp!}, year old and I am getting a lot of... "Do you think I can get an Xbox 360?" Other than that he has no other suggestions or requests, so he may be getting nothing. Or the dreaded socks and underwear!! LOL

My step kids wanted a PS3, but since their impatient father already upgraded our game system last month we are going to have to figure out what else they want/need. My Stepdaughter is the most practical and she's the youngest.
She wants clothes, shoes, a GREEN sweater, and my favorite thing on her list.
Socks, colored socks, not just any socks, OLDNAVY socks.......yes she is nine and this is exactly how it reads on her list! I love that girl!

Hmmm my 2,5 yr old son is really into the knights at the moment,so he is getting a disney suit from Prince Philip(The sleeping beauty) with matching sword from my mom.I bought him a horse on a stick so he can play a real knight.I think it's going to be fun!
Besides that he likes Dino's after he saw the movie Jurassic park and he really likes magic too,so i guess i will buy a magic wand or something. But i am having a hard time with gifts,i don't really like the toys from now a days.I rather have those 80's toys back :D

my 2 older kids (6 & 5) like littlest pet shop too...i got kelly a littlest pet shop diary complete w/ a little lock & key...how cute is that!! and i also got her one of the rescue pups that you can go on line kinda like a webkin (which we still haven't been online to see...i'm so behind the times
my 2 year old wants everything she sees....i'm thinking i'm going with the diego extravaganza....the rescue tree fort, the helicopter, the atv....
my big problem is that my 2 oldest have birthdays right before the holiday season...so it is always an onslaught of toys

Just ordered my 9 year old DD the American Girl Doll of the Year complete with Horse & Tack Box. Yup! That set us a back a pretty penny! Pretty much wiped out her Christmas budget, but it was one of only three things on her list. The other two are more Webkinz and charms & accessories for her Webkinz.
My 4 year old is the hard one! She wants everything my 9 year old wants, but she isn't old enough to care for an AGD. So we're not sure. The only other thing she saw the she really wanted was recalled...the Dora Magic Castle. Ugh! She did also ask me for pants, a shirt, and a dress. LOL!
The baby is getting a simple Busy Ball Pop-Up toy from Fisher Price.
The 17 year old will be getting a lump of coal I think. All she ever wants anymore is money.

What's aquadots and why are they bad??
My 7 year old boy is so different. He doesn't ask for the usual or what's "in and cool"....well, he does want a Nintendo DS. I suppose that's usual. But, he wants Phoenix Coyotes ice hockey tickets (he plays and LOVES ice hockey), Ben 10 Omnitrix wrist toy, the new pearl and diamond Pokedex (but he's barely played w/ the old pokedex he already has!!) and he really hasn't said what else....oh, GI Joe 25th anniver. addition figurines.
Put a Toys R Us (or similiar store) catalog in front of your kids. They'll come up with a TON of ideas!!
We are done w/ XMas shopping ~ we have to pick up 2 more items, but that's it --- unless the kids come up with the one "gotta have" from santa that we didn't already think of. We're sooooo excited!! We're not usually BEFORE Thanksgiving!
