We're having my son tested tomorrow for RSV (he's been exposed to two friends with it.) He's 2, so it's not quite a big deal, except that I have a c-section scheduled next Friday for our daughter's birth. And I know it can be SO serious in newborns. I would appreciate your prayers...that he not be sick and if he is, that it won't be severe and that our newborn would be protected from it. This is the last thing I really want to deal with right now...but I know that God is sovereign and that He's teaching me through this.

My thoughts are with you and your family. Hope all goes well. Good luck with everything! It can be such a stressful time without having to add all that extra stress into it. Hope it all turns out for the best!

just an update...his test was positive for RSV...so we're praying now that he gets over the symptoms quickly and that our newborn won't be affected by it. Apparently, some can get over it in as few as 3 to 8 days; others 3-4 weeks. His symptoms are still just the yucky nose...so we're thankful for that! Thank you for your prayers and well-wishes!

Kimber-Leigh, keeping you all in my prayers!! i am a peds nurse and what we would tell the parents is the MOST important thing during this time is good hand washing! i know that ,that sounds so simple but it is true! the virus is not airborn. it is trasfered hand to mouth or hand to nose. the biggest thing to pray is that you don't get it or if you do that you don't transfer it to your newborn. as you know rsv has probably given your little boy a nasty cold, but for newborns and infants it is very dangerous because they can not handle all of the secretions (snot) that are produced becuase of it!! i'm sure you already know all of this but just in case you did not! just remember GOOD HANDWASHING! keep us updated! ((( Hugs)))

Not fun My son had RSV and was hospitalized on xmas he was there for about 5 days. My son started out with a cold but in a few days was sooo bad he didnt move from one spot on the coach for hrs. I took him to the doctor and when we got there he was breathing so heavy his skin was getting sucked up against his ribs horrible feeling. Good luck and watch for other signs that he is just not getting better.

my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. my cousin's son developed rsv as a premature baby born at 28 weeks. with shots, and treatment and great drs, he is now a healthy and thriving 5 yr old. i pray that you have a wonderful team of drs that can help your child.
