We are in the need of a 2nd car. We have done fine for a while now with 1 car. We are at a point now where we need 2 though. Pray that God would open the door for a good car, inexpensively or that some one would just give us a great car ( It can happen 6 months ago, one of my good friends had some one just give him a 2yr old envoy). Things are really tight right now...b/c of being in school fulltime now. So if you would just please pray for us.....b/c we don't want to have to get a car that is not going to last just to get something for the time being.

Josh,
I really hope that you are able to find the car you need.
I know it can be hard when you are in school and working and have a marriage (and 2 dogs :) to take care of.
Just stay positive!

I have seen lot's of commercials here (CA) for pretty cheap lease deals...like a toyota or hyundai for less than $200/ month. Can you guys scrimp on scrap supplies, meals out and other sort of "luxury items" to try and squeeze into a deal like that?? Good luck!

Actually we have already skimped to put me through school...but great thinking....school is way expensive and supposedly we made to much to get loans or financial aid for school... Thanks though ladies!

wow where i live anyone can get loans no matter how much you make and then you pay it back after you are out with a job....if i were you i would investigate that further!! that sounds like a racket to me

I agree - if cutting out every last frivilous purchase has been done (and you're eating pasta 4 or 5 nights a week) and you can't cut back any more, then look to loans. Lenders are willing to give you their money.
I put myself through school (and was married - my hub went to school, too and worked full time) and I worked 3 (part time) jobs to make it. I also had to buy a car at the time (we only had 1 junker).
We had to take out student loans up the ying-yang to make it happen. Believe me, the money is out there, you just need to take a look. What they push at the school isn't the end all-be-all of what kind of loans you could get, either. Banks and private lenders are willing to give you the money you need.
Now, granted, 10 years later, I'm still not debt free, BUT, I have my education AND I had the pride of knowing I did it all by myself.
If you exhaust your options and decide an auto loan is more of what you like, Capital One offers a terrific pre-approval deal that has a relatively low rate for an auto-loan. I'm also sure there are dealers in your area dyin' to get rid of their '08s for the new '09s coming out. You just got to look for a deal and be willing to drive a hard bargain (and be willing to walk away).
BTW my hub and I now only have one car (his old car is in car heaven) and we've both had to make a ton of sacrifices to make it work, but it does. Just be fleixble and learn that just because you can't do one thing right now, you can always do it later.

Thanks for all of your all's advice and what not...We were doing fine with one car, but not now b/c of job stuff we need 2, or I won't be able to work. As far as loans for school and such I applied for FASFA....the federal ones that anyone can apply for. Going to actually sit down soon with an actual advisor though and see if there is anything else we can do.
Again...thanks for the advice and prayers!

Vibes and prayers going your way. Someone once told me not to worry about money because it will always turn up when you need it and I have found this to be so so true. Things will work out I'm sure of it.

Kate, that is so true. God has definately blessed us and we are so thankful for that.
There is power in prayer. I truly believe that and I know God will take care of our needs.

I really wish you guys lived close to me.
I just donated a 96 Pontiac Grand Prix to charity because we didnt need 3 cars.
I think that God will find a way to balance your needs and I will offer my heart in prayer for that as well.

Sending prayers your way! I totally feel your pain. My DH & I have made do with 1 vehicle for over a year with jobs in 2 different directions and commuting our kids to parochial school. It ain't easy, but things always have a way of working themselves out. The power of faith will get you through everything!

Rertel...and others...not glad that you have gone through it or are going through it, but it is nice to know people really know what we are going through... We have made do with 1 car for over 2 years....it wasn't until this past month that we have started to need another car....due to family/job circumstances. Thanks for the prayers....and we believe God has it all in His hands!
