A friend of the family lost their home to the fire. The loss of a home is awful, but at least they are okay.

So sad and I heard the wind has picked up over the ridge(whatever they call that) and is heading towards more houses. I hope everyone gets out safely

THat is horrible. For the first time ever, I have seen a little of what that looks like. Last week we had a horrible flood in our town. It was the worst natural disaster our town has ever seen and 300 families lost their homes and all of their belongings. Some of those homes that could have been salvaged are now lost to mold because of the rains we keep getting. I worked the shelter the first week that had happened and I saw what it was like for these families to go through that pain. One woman had lost her son 2 years ago and when the flood came it washed away all of the photos of her son. So with all of the rain this week it was a little nerve wracking, because I was afraid that water could come to my house and I have house insurance, but a regular home owners policy does not cover flood. So I was freaking out yesterday and was going through that panic that those others had. We are fine and so is our house, the rain keeps coming but it has been stopping long enough for the creek to go down and then rains again. My heart hurts for those families who have lost everything.

Sending prayers for all of the families impacted by this fire.

I had heard on the news that they think this all started because of illegal campfires. How horrible that someone was so careless and disregarded laws and warnings and has had such an impact on so many lives.

I love Tahoe and think it's so sad for everyone living out there. We have some family friends who lost their house in the fire. Very sad and scary time for all the residents of the area.

I guess I'm not sure about this. We don't watch the news in our house, it just makes me sad. There are many places, though, especially in Oklahoma that I know of that are being flooded. It seems every other day there is a flood warning. Thankfully we live on high ground and it doesn't affect us as much, but there are so many that have lost homes. We should pray for everyone involved in floods.
