Ok, so the rain flooded my town last week. Literally. Almost ALL of downtown was underwater and our town lost 75% of our wheat and corn crops. The flood went litterally for miles and the news crews were even shocked. A grandmother and her 5yr and 2yr old were swept away. It was really sad. So this water was just a few blocks from my neighborhood, but we were really blessed and had no damage. But now, it is going to rain Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all day and the creek that was the problem is still really full. So PLEASE PRAY specifically if you can that the storms break up before they hit our town. Things like this usually do not bother me, but we drove some of the damaged areas yesterday and it was truly heartbreaking to see the actual devistation. I am actually pretty worried now and I will be bringing my dd life jacket to daycare this week. I am sure I will get laughed at, but my heart hurts for that family who lost the 2 little girls. I had to listen to the search choppers the whole 3 days it took to find the bodies because the flood location was just a few blocks down the street. I live in North Texas. Thank you so much for your prayers. I am believing that the Lord is going to protect our town and the people in our town and keep my family safe.
Thank you

Yes, I heard about them. It is very, very sad. The Lord controls it all and He can break up that storm. We will ask Him for His protection over that area. Don't feel bad about the life jacket. I think that is a very good move, you just never know. Water is so dangerous. My daughter and I were in our little church practicing for worship the next day and a slew (sp) pipe frome the railroad broke open. This pipe was clogged for years on end. We heard it, opened the front door of the church and you would think you were in roaring rapids! It broke windows, moved a piano and sent it out the back door. It was very frightning. We ran to a neighbor down the road and was pelted with rocks on our legs. My poor daughter was shaking. Our car that was parked horizontilly in front of the church protected our sanctuary from getting damaged. Trees and such got caught under the car and directed the flooding around the church. It was all the Lord. We just decided to go up there at 6:00....we had all day to practice, but if that car wasn't there I don't know what would have happened to our little ole church. Needless to say, that was very, very small to what you all went through and I can imagine it is very scary. Blessings to you.

I am so sorry. You and your town are in my prayers, and so don't worry about getting laughed at for the life jacket, I would do it too.

Ok, well I think we are going to make it! Tonight is the last night for major rain. Last night the creek almost crested, but did not and this evening the creek is about a foot away from cresting. If it does, it will flood, but the way the rains have been today, it won't be as bad as last week. So the sun is trying to come out and I am breathing a HUGE sigh of relief! Thank you so much for your prayers! The storms really were breaking up before they hit our town and so we were only hit by 2 major storm fronts; one lst night and this evening. Again, thank you so much. I was in a wee bit of panic because all we have is regular house insurance. Regular house insurance does not cover flooding. A flood in our town has only happened one time in its existence before now. Whew.

Thank you guys for all of the prayers! I really appreciate it! I think that Texas is going to float away sometime this month, but I will say I have seen some really cool stuff since the flood. Everyone in town seems to be pulling together to help out total stangers and it is SO overwhelming to see the caring.

Hey guys! I just wanted to give an update. It rains ALOT everyday, but it always seems to stop just in time. Well the good news is FEMA is now here and these families whose homes were completely destroyed are going to be getting some really awesome help now. It is such a relief. When I was at the shelter logging in folks, that was the one question that was asked the most and now everyone is going to get some help! Thank you guys for your prayers, they are very much appreciated. My home and family have not been affected although we had a close call, but we have several friends who have lost everything. One of our friends lived right by the creek and the water washed away ALL of the brick on the back of the house and buckled the side of the house. They were able to salvage clothes, a wedding dress and a few photos and some odds and ends, but that is all.
Thank you for your prayers again.....please continue to pray if you can because the rain seems to be continueously coming everyday and we just truly do not need anymore.

Prayers for you and all those around you who have lost. Never second guess those "mum senses" and send the lifejacket. You are protecting her the best way you can without being physically beside her. I have personally been through a terrible storm when I was little and if it weren't for my parents putting us in the basement, we could have been seriously injured. Let me know if you need any help.
