I've been having super annoying heart attack-like symptoms for a bit now and my dr has been trying all sorts of things to figure out what is going on. They've pretty much chalked it up to anxiety, which totally sucks. Anywho, I got a call from my dad this morning - My cousin who is 26-ish had a heart attack last week. They couldn't figure out what was going on at first but thankfully he went to a super thourough hospital (in dallas). They figured out one of his heart valves just decided to quit working properly. It isn't something that can be caught with an ekg or any of the blood tests that they normally run AND it's genetic. So, I had to call and leave a message with my dr this morning and I'm waiting to hear back from him. I'm freaking out a little. I'm sure this is not what's wrong with me but it still makes me nervous.

follow your gut instinct and insist on what you want with the doc
better to be the annoying patient and be safe and sure than not

Sorry to hear that. As others said, follow your instincts and don't be scared to speak up your mind with the doctors.
I myself experienced shorthness of breath and palpitations a few months ago and first they said it was all due to anxiety. They gave me some aspirin I think and sent me home.
A few days later, I went back with the same symptoms, got an EKG and some other tests and they found out I have a hole in my heart. It's not dangerous and I can live with it normally but at least I know I have it.
Always get answers as health is the most important.

im praying that its only abxiety too - i know how they feel... they are scarey.
Hopefully you will be prescribed beater blockers and that ou can figure a way out of it.

I got a call from the dr and they're doing an echocardiogram wednesday morning. I didn't even NEED to be persistant!

That is so scray. This happened to me once, but luckily it turned out to be pluracy (spelling?). It was flaring up real bad right where my heart was. I hope it is nothing huge, but please keep us updated!

oh cam...i'm so sorry to hear that! your poor cousin! & poor you!!!!! i hope your doctor is able to find some answers for you & help you to feel better.

I had my echo this morning. It must not be too bad b/c they didn't rush me into surgery or anything! haha
The Dr is supposed to call me back after the cardiologist checks everything out.

I was having chest pains, etc and it turned out I had acid reflux! LOL.

Well, some of my pain has been caused by acid reflux and I've been taking prilosec for that. Wouldn't that be great if that is all it was!
