My mother-in-law, Ruth, got her biopsy results...its bad. She has an appointment Monday with a thoracic surgeon. He will tell us her chances of surviving surgery at her age. If she were younger it would be operable. Oncologist is scheduled for 6/23, but I feel certain they will work her in sooner.

I found this out upon coming home after being at the GASC all day. I was really exhausted and glad to be home. When my husband told me, I just broke down. I just knew she was going to have the less aggressive cancer and she'd have more time, but that's not the case. We haven't been given any timelines yet, but the family is prepared for the worst.

This 89-year old woman is still sharp as a tack, independent, active. She goes on group trips, she lives alone, she goes to concerts, and is active in women's groups. On the other hand, my grandmother is 92, widowed 5 years, has been in excrutiating pain for many years, "living" in nursing facility for 2 years, and is beginning to display dimentia. She is so tired and so ready to be with Jesus, that's all she talks about. I believe in God. Right now I'm mad at God. That's hard for me to say, and I know it's not right. But I can't help it right now.

Please pray for Ruth that she not suffer.

Pray for my husband that he will be strong, he doesn't share my faith.

Pray for my grandmother.

And pray for me to forgive.

I am so sorry. I am not really good at subjects like this... but your feelings seem logical to me and I don't think anyone would blame you.
Life is so hard and unfair. Thinking of her and you.

So sorry for all of this on your heart! I will be praying for you and your family!

In the difference of your MIL and GM, it is sometimes hard to figure all that out but I do believe there is a lesson in it all, God does know what he is doing!

Oh Kim... I am so sad to hear this news. I will continue to pray for your family. Ruth sounds like such a fun, sweet person. I am sure she is surrounded by people who just adore her! Think of the influence that she has been and will continue to be to so many! And don't you even be hard on yourself for your feelings. It is perfectly normal to be feeling like you are right now. We don't always understand the "whys" and that is so frustrating. Try to let this time of uncertainty and questioning make your faith stronger, rather than pulling you away. Have you ever read the poem "Footprints in the Sand"? I am thinking of that right now. How that there will only be one set of footprints during this part of your families life journey, not because He has left you alone, but because He is carrying you. I do believe that God is in control. Sending prayers and hugs.
