Just announced on our local news that his 5 year old daughter was hit and killed by a car that was driven by her teenage brother. It happened in their driveway and some of the family witnessed the accident.
I believe that this is the little girl that he adopted.
For those of you that don't know, he's an amazing Christian artist...

I love Steven Curtis Chapman...have not heard this news. How terrible for him and his family and especially the brother who was involved in the accident. His family will certainly be in my prayers tonight.

Oh no! That's awful news! I know who he is, I had a CD of his growing up.
Will be thinking of them all, so sad. :(

OMGosh! I've seen him in concert and have almost all of his CD's....so, yeah I know him.
Oh, that is the saddest, most terrible news....
I wonder if Bob and JJ know them, they're in the same area - I THINK...

Bob and I knew the Chapmans. Audio Adrenaline opened for Steven about ten years ago. We're in complete shock. We had no idea about this until I just read this thread. I'm just in total shock. Please pray for them...from the depths of your souls...it's just the absolute worst thing I could ever imagine...

Please, please, pray for the family...it is so incredibly heartbreaking. I have been completely stunned all evening.
The Chapmans are the ones who encouraged me to move to Nashville four years ago (family friends). I have no other words at the moment.

I just read that to. How sad, it was a little girl they adopted. Imagine the emotions today in that family, especially the brother who accidently ran her over. They are in my thoughts

this just makes me cry!!! so,so tragic!
steven's music has been such a big part of my life! it carried me through some hard times! and it has made me rejoice in others!
how very, very sad! my heart is so heavy for them!!!

My heart aches for them and their sorrow, loss and grief. As one who knows sudden death and tragedy of a little girl, I know they do need our love and prayers in abundance at this time.
I grew up and stil LOVE SCC's music and words...I've seen him in concert, had his "I WILL BE HERE" song sung at my wedding, and then a couple of his songs were a part of both of Teagan's memorial services- "With Hope" and "My Redeemer is Faithful & True".
I think of all the times he and his family have brought comfort and hope to others at times of tragedy- including the heartbreak in the Paducah, KY school shooting, and recently how they have opened their hearts and homes to 3 little girls and encouraged and made it possible for many others to bring children into their lives in the same way.
Okay.
As you can see, my heart is overflowing with thoughts and hurt and all I know is that the faith they have claimed in Christ for many years will be the one thing to see them through this and heal their hearts through the coming days and years.
My prayers are with each of their family members today. I pray that God will be glorified even in this most difficult time.
And I thank you all for your prayers for them. I know what it's like to be 'carried by others'.

VERY VERY SAD! I saw him in concert when I was away at school, many years ago! Being at the concert had me filled with the love of GOD and I always remember that feeling!
He is currently on our list of furture speakers for the conference committee I am on as he has done a lot for adoption and such!
Saying some prayers now and in the future for their loss!
