What is the new digg button at the bottom of layouts in the gallery? It takes me off-site...have we been hacked?

We are just testing it out. Right now if there is nothing in the description you will not see the Digg button. Just a little glitch. If you don't have an account on Digg you will have to register. Kind of a hassle. But , like I said we are just trying to new stuff out. :)

You all don't have to do anything at all with Digg if you don't want to, it's just for people who are into it...I guess it's like another social network-y thing where things get "digged" or something and they show up there...you can "digg" YouTube vids and photos and things like that and the more they get "dug" the higher they get ranked or something...Bob is just trying out some new things. :)

So, if we "digg" something does it register it on digg.com or is it some ranking that will stay on SiStv? The reason I'm asking is, I'm a pretty private person. I don't have a blog and this is really the only place I post because I feel comfortable here. If someone "diggs" something that I've posted I don't want it to then be posted on this digg.com site and honestly, if that's the way that it works, I will not be uploading any more layouts to SiStv unless there is someway to opt out of it. Is this the way it works or am I just understanding this digg site wrong?

a serious concern. I've had trouble with a cyber stalker. Is this "digg" potentially where the stuff from SIS can be uploaded elsewhere?
Anyone else finding that "digg" makes SIS run slower. I am forever getting a pause with the message at the bottom, "waiting for digg...." grrrr...

SIS has been working (sometimes not working ) soooo slowly the last few days. i still don't understand what this digg thing is and i think if there's something added on SIS we should all understand what it is so we can have a choice to use it to the fullest potential. we all obviously come here to share of ourselves and need to feel secure about that. thanx y'all!

i agree with faygie. i'm wondering if digg has anything to do with the posts and comments numbers that keep disappearing in our profiles. i'm not sure that i'm diggin' digg.

hello all - digg - is a way for people to indicate something they have found on the net that they is really cool (they dig it) and want to share it with others. The more people who "digg" an item will increase the SEO (search enginge optimization) value of an item.
What the hell does that mean? It means that when someone does a search on google for something the more likely SIS will come up higher in the search.
The layouts do not get posted up on the digg site - what happens is a link to the layout is posted with a description. The person has to click on the link and come to SIS to view it. If you don't want your layout to be linked to, making it private should solve that problem but then no one else can see it either.
Now SIS is a public site so the layouts you post and the message board are publicly viewable by people who are not members. The person just can't comment on them.
The digg demographic though is pretty young and more of the techy nature so I'm not sure if digging layouts is the best approach. Having a digg under the webisodes though is a good idea. And yes, I am going to send that feedback to SIS.
I hope that clarifies things for folks about what digg is.

It does, Tracy. Thanks.
Not too worried then.
I have to say, though, it has caused me to leave fewer comments lately. It pauses EVERY time I am trying to view layouts. Seriously annoying.
i'm not sure that i'm diggin' digg.
amen to that!

thanks for explaining more Tracy ;)
i still think we all should have been sent a personal explanation on EXACTLY what DIGG is. At this point it is just something we are experimenting with- it hasn't been decided yet whether or not it is going to be a permanent SIStv feature. You can be assured that when changes are made permanantly to the site we will inform the SISters about it. Right now tech support is just trying it out.
If someone "diggs" something that I've posted I don't want it to then be posted on this digg.com site and honestly, if that's the way that it works, I will not be uploading any more layouts to SiStv unless there is someway to opt out of it. If you visit digg.com you can find out a little more about how it works. Anything on the internet can be "digged" -without the Digg button. My blog has been "digged" a few times by anonymous readers- that can happen to any blog on the internet. Layouts can be "digged" as well, that are posted in any online gallery. In this case, we just added the button to make it easier, but anyone can digg anything that's posted on the internet even without that little button. So, I could go to XYZs blog and "digg" a picture that she posted there, even though XYZ doesn't have the digg button. Does that make sense?
But like I said, we're just testing some things out :)
