how do you motivate yourself to:

... clean your messy desk ?

... get offline and actually scrap?

what else do you need to be motivated to do? and how do you motivate yourself?

i've noticed that when i reach a lull in a page...like i have no idea what to do next to make it look good, it normally means i have to clean my desk. so i get motivated, because if i don't straighten up i won't be able to move forward.

with getting off the boards...i don't. so seriously...i guess i know it is going to be here when i get back. so i can go scrap or read or whatever. and then check back in a couple hours.

that doesn't really help i know....

interested to hear what others say!! great question!

oooh.
okay.
your motivation is that as you clean, you get to see new products and get inspired.
and if that doesn't work, shove it all on the floor and start! lol

I actually "ground" myself. Like if I wanna scrap, but there's a load of laundry in the dryer or a sink of dishes. I make myself to the chores first or no scrappy. Mail-goodies work, too. Can't open it until I do something productive. Can't log-on in the morning until I do something around the house.

i usually go shopping. half the time i don't even buy anything, but looking at new stuff inspires me to use up what i have. okay, i lied. most of the time i buy something. but there are those few times i don't.

getting of the boards- i don't until i've read all the threads and looked at the gallery until i get so inspired to do a page i'm afraid i'll forget it!

wanting to scrap makes me motivated to clean/organize my scrap table! also...
giving myself permission to take time for me gives me the motivation i need to scrap.
then when i do the things that are needed around my house i don't seem to mind them:)
not sure what will motivate me to get off-line though:)

I'm motivated by the purpose of scrappin - it's not just pictures and pretty paper - it's the memory and the story behind it... I think the Stacy Jullian (Big Picture) philosophy really put it into perspective. If I can't get a 12x12 page done - I work on something else... if probably helps if you have some photos you like too!

I clean my mess every time when I finish a page or project.
What motivates me the most is the AWESOME comments on my layouts... I read them over and over again... LOL

And I always listen to 1 song that's on my blog... that song motivates me to create.. I don't know why but it works for me ;)

for scrapping motivation (i think i answered this the other night on another thread) it happens a lot when i get one of my monthly kits in the mail....

for other types of motivation, usually it just has to bug me so much that i just finally go do it.

I cannot stand things unorganized after a point, so if it gets messy enough I'll have to clean it or it will drive me c.r.a.z.y.!!!!

I used to have a hard time getting good exercise. Now I have a bike and Dance Dance Revolution and working out is fun. I just had to find the right exercise for me!!! (Can you tell I'm very proud of myself?);-)

this is why I started digi scrapping.m Digi scrapping meant I did not have to clean my desk. Nor did I have to leave the computer. And there was no way I could accidentally glue an m&m to the page.

you've gone shopping and not bought anything? seriously? tell me your secret. because i cannot do that.

it's really quite easy sometimes. i work right next door to hobby lobby and my boyfriend works in the same shopping complex as michael's and joanns, so i go very very frequently- so much that there is just nothing else i want at that time. mostly because i only buy sale items at box stores like that.

now, the 3 lss i live less than 5 min. from, i don't go in nearly as often because i cannot walk out of them without speding money. still working on that one, but not too hard.
