So, I am a getting back into paper scrapping after over a year of digital scrapping and was just reminded of one of the main advantages of digiscrapping: no bulk.
I loooove to add depth to my pages but now I am getting in trouble when trying to store them. The plastic sheets of conventional albums warp and sometimes don't even fit the page when there is too much on it. I also don't like to hide the lovely textures behind the plastic.
I have created a cardboard folder and I have been adding my pages to it, but I am punching holes on them to add them to the album. I don't want all my pages to have extra holes on them (especially when I want to send them to be published).
So, ANY IDEAS? How do you store your pages?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts :)

In a pizza box. I love it too. So much easier than storing albums!

At the moment, many of mine are just in a paper file - the concertina type ones. I'm not a very organised scrapper, eventually they will end up in albums.
It would be good if you could find something that would clip onto the side of your page so that your don't have to punch holes in them. I have no idea if such a thing exists but it would be cool lol.
I'm not much help am I? hehe

lol yes, the last two I did I didn't want to punch the holes and they are in a box :) but I guess that is far from permanent, kind hard to get them out to show it off :)

ok I have never tried this but what about cutting the page protectors with the holes down the one side, that way only part of the page is in the page protectors attach your layout to the Page Protector from behind with glue dots or some type of adhesive. Ummm let me try it and I'll take a photo to see if that works, Be back with the idea I have in just a few moments

I have been hitting myself trying to figure out exactly that, how to just attach them without damaging them. I thought maybe getting a Kolo photo album, is one of those albums where you are supposed to adhere your photos to and they have sheets of paper in between pages to protect the photos... maybe using non permanent/removable adhesive with that? I am not sure yet....

You could use binder clips???
Also you could mount them onto a board and put the holes on the board, and then put it in a book and cover it somehow?
I am not sure!

Have you thought about putting the bulky embellishments on the OUTSIDE of the page protector? That way the pages will fit in, and the bulkiness won't be hidden...lots of great texture!

You could use binder clips??? I thought about that but found them too bulky, like, I could nod get one page on top of the other...
Also you could mount them onto a board and put the holes on the board, and then put it in a book and cover it somehow? I might try something like that, I guess that is similar to the Kolo album idea... I just need an adhesive that will hold it in place but also allow me to take it off if need be...

I wouldn't mind to lose the texture so much, but I haven't been able to fit my pages in the protectors because of the bulk, I don't want to trim them just to put in page protectors (been there, done that, regreted it)

just to give you an idea of how it looks now:

I like how the Fancy Pants paper has pattern on both sides and sometimes it kinda matches the next page :)
I think adding the pages on top of the page protectors is the best idea so far :)
thanks for all the great help girls, gotta go to bed but will check back tomorow for more ideas :) thanks!

I think Candihearts has the best idea--definitely don't punch holes through your beautiful layouts!!! Unless you incorporate the hole punch into your layout design (hey there's an idea!)
You don't even have to cut the page protector, just use double stick tape or adhesive on the back of your lo and press it onto the page protector. It'll stick and you can remove it since the page protector is plastic. You could put a lo on each side and have a pocket in the middle to store hidden journaling or extra photos!

this may take a little more effort and some sewing skills but what if you put the pages in a larger protector than they actually are?? like, put an 8.5 x 11 in a 12x12 protector. then, trim the top down and sew (think courtney delaura's tutorial) the side so it fits your page perfectly.

that's an even better idea Lydiajane I like it that way you have a wonderful pocket in the back! and Allison has a great idea also!

oh, now I get it Candyhearts, thanks fo rthe photo, I actually quite like the idea :)
Lydia, I also like your idea and have been thinking about that one, I like having only one layout per sheet protector so the plastic protects one page from rubbing in and damaging the other. I am going to try this and see how it goes :)
Allison, I scrap 8X8 so it would be easy to get something bigger. Maybe I should have a look into some 9x9 albums, didn't think of that before... but I would still lose the texture in this option.
I have my heart set with the Kolo albums, but I think they are too small, I am taking a couple of pages to the store were they sall it to seee if they fit. I will get back to you guys on my trials :)

my solution to the bulkyness of my pages was a kolo album: Newbury 8.75" X 10.25". I have used repositionable dots to add my pages to the album. It has sturdy paper pages that I hope will protect my scrapbook pages "from each other". I love that I can just untie the ribbon to move the pages. So, in case I want to adhere my pages permanently I can still move them, even to a different album.

I hope the photos illustrated it better :)
thanks for the help :) much appreciated

I just use the American Crafts 12x12 D-Ring Modern Albums. I put all the layouts in there no matter what size they are. Yeah, the layout is still in a page protector, but there's some extra room in there. I am able to fit 2 layouts per page without having to trim them. I can only fit about 36 layouts in the whole thing, though, and I think that's the MOST I have in one of them. I like having the page protector, because a lot of people look at them, and that way they don't get messed up.
If I have something hanging off the page, I just make a slit in the page protector, and let it hang out.

that album is cool! will have to look for those when I finally finish an album. I am a random scrapper so I can't seem to complete one album at a time I more just complete pages at a time. Love your layout also!

just wanting to add my two cents:
i don't normally have a lot of bulk to my pages, so i put them in albums, two to a page protector, and they fit just fine. I normally get 30+ per album. I don't know how else to store them. I wouldn't want them in a pizza box, because that means they aren't easily accessible and I wouldn't want them to get stained by the grease.

i have chosen a papicolor system of 4-ring albums (that will also hold my A4 file folders with A4 lo's and some other cool sizes), the standard filling for those are both plastic sheets and 12x13" cardstock with holes in it on which you can stick your lo's. so the flat ones i'll put in sheets and the ones with more bulk or the hands-on ones with hidden pics and/or journalling i'll stick onto the cardstockpages. I love this system, to me it's so versatile. What you could do if you can't get a system like this is buy bigger cardstock and cut it to size yourself and use a 3 or 4-ring binder.

papicolor system of 4-ring albums sounds like a great system!!! especially being able to mix sheet protectors with cardstock pages :)
