First - is SIS going to get it? If so when?
It looks cool. I'm thinking about getting one when it comes out. I have a cricut that I don't use much because it just got aggravating. Maybe I need to replace the blade or something - whatever - my sister is using it right now and wants her own. I'm thinking selling mine to her and getting a slice. The cartridges are cheaper than cricut ones so that's good. I found the machine on presale for $150 and the cartridges for $40. I like how small it is and I like the idea of the adhesive spray because the cricut mats were aggravating to me too.

Did anyone actually get to use it?
Did you have to apply a lot of pressure to it while it was working?
Do you think it was much of a bother to hold it while it was going?
Does anyone know if you have to replace the blade really often?
Any opinions?

Making Memories is a very good brand - they do high quality products and I think this will be a good system but I would really like to hear from someone who has seen and used it.
Thanks girls!

i did use it a for a bit, just to cut for the demo.
i did like it, but i'm tool obsessed.
i do think its slow, and you definitely had to apply some pressure.
but i still think i need it.

Thanks for the input girlies!
Generation two? That won't be out til at least next summer's CHA. I can't wait that long! I think I'm going to do it. Now is the perfect time if I'm going to - my sister gets mine - I get the Slice - Hubbs is on board telling me yesyesyes (I'm SO spoiled!) The only bad thing is OCTOBER is MONTHS away! I've decided and I would like it now please. :-)

Hey, when is KA getting all her MM goodies? She'll be able to tell us how awesome it is.

We were told at winter CHA that gen two will be on some sort of track... so you can cut 12x12!

whoo hoo!

I still say the Cricut is the better value... the slice only cuts the thinest papers....

I agree with staramaze, the tool is kinda cool but very limited. I think you will be disappointed after owning a Cricut.

It takes a long time to cut each shape/letter and it feels kind of like hanging on to a blender while it is working! If the Cricut aggravates you, I think the Slice will really aggravate you...

No it does not... the papers that it will cut are very thin.

Okay so...

A) SIS will be carrying the SLICE and accessories, it starts shipping in October

B) I do not have my SLICE yet because it gets shipped to me in Oct as well, but I did have a shipment just sent of TWELVE boxes- and those are just the MM product. Not even the furniture and stuff. Dude. MM is so generous.

C) When I saw the demo at CHA, it did cut through transparencies, but they were slightly thinner than Hambly transparencies. I think, however, the push back on the release date may improve a lot of that. Anyhow, the thing I like about the SLICE over the Cricut is that you can place it over any part of your paper you want, so you can cut out exactly the right pattern. I think it may enable you to use up more of the paper you are cutting. I do like the Cricut though, although I rarely use it

this is what I found: • Cuts textured cardstock, vellum, vinyl and photos up to .5 mm thick

that's also BG quality thickness right?
