i bought three 12 x 12 art canvases for decorations in my living room. i've already painted them and i'm going to make one canvas for each member of our family (hubs, me and babe).
i really love the painting part, but i need some ideas for dimensional items. any thoughts? i do want to put our names on each one so i was thinking of many using something dimensional there, but i'm worried about the adhesive factor.
thanks for your help :)

I'm no help, but want to watch this for tips too. I've bought the canvases and want to do the same thing, but haven't started yet.
I know TammyGray has done several. I'll pm her and see if she can answer for us.

Hot glue, those real sticky glue dots will hold anything on, ummm tacky glue, anything like that. Sometimes I cover mine then with a layer of mod podge just to "seal" - especially if I do a lot of decoupage because sometimes the paper likes to curl up when dry. LMK if you have any addtl ?s. Good luck, make sure to share the finished products! I bet they're gonna be fab!

Hey girl... hope I'm not too late to help. I LOVE doing canvases... have posted a few on my portfolio if you want to check them out. I use Modge Podge to glue the pictures, paper and flat stuff down. You just have to watch it cuz it can wrinkle a bit, but I like that look. As for dimensionals, I have used ribbon, buttons and quotes, including vellum. I have seen beach ones done with shells, and others done with keepsake items. I did a bathroom picture and glued down a washcloth as part of the top. As quetepye said, the glue dots work great. I have also stiched buttons directly onto the canvas from the back. I also agree with quetepye about modge podging the whole canvas. Helps a bit with dust and dirt. Have fun!

I use matt gel medium to "glue" down the flat items and Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry for all of the other items. It works great. You can use just about anything you put on a LO on a canvas. Lots of possibilities. Have fun! :)
