WOuld love to contribute to this...
Do you think you could come up with a list of supplies you need? I am not sure exactly what kind of book is needed--an actual scrapbook or journal or 3 ring office binder with page protectors? I also don't want to send a bunch of duplicate supplies or things not needed. :D

Kristin.....by the way (which is BTW on the boards here.....) do U have a MICHAELS or JOANN'S in your area???????????
Yes, I have both! Iam going to come up with a flyer and post it at some churches and such around my work and around my home!
I am going to be honest, I never expected this response! I was honestly thinking I might be told that I can't post something like this here!
I am on my way to work now and I can't stand waiting to get to the computer there and get in touch with all the people there, they are all over the state!

this is a subject that is also near and dear to my heart... as i work for nj's division of youth and family services as a caseworker. i HATE our lifebooks. literally, loathe them. they're some ugly copied papers that the foster parent can fill out. ugly. ugly. ugly.
i was actually just talking to one of my older foster kids about this the other day. she's 19 years old. she has quite a few siblings and doesn't know any of them anymore. the only photo she has of her and her siblings (and they were together for years in foster care before they were separated) and of her as a baby is one that was in the newspaper when they were little! such a shame to not know your childhood at all.
i would LOVE to donate some stuff to you, but i need to wait until the end of the month if that is okay..... please let me know!

I get all weepy when I see stuff like this!!! Hubby and I are foster parents and our only child is adopted through the system. We have 1 photo of two of her half sisters and no no photos or anything about her other 5 half siblings. It is so sad to me!!!
I always take lots of photos and write stories and happening down to pass along with the child! I always get two sets of photos, 1 set to send along with them and 1 set for me to keep. I am in the process of pulling photos for two of our previous foster kids, that have just been adopted, now their Mom and Dad will have photos of when I brought the baby home from the hospital, if I didn't do things like that, they would have nothing!!
Needless to say, I am so on this!!! I will work on getting a box together and get it in the mail next week!!
Bless your heart for doing this!!

Every year, I have written her and sent her photos of my life and in return, she has always sent me letters of HIS LIFE........so I am ONE OF LUCKY ones out there that has gotten to see their birth child grow up along the way!!!!!!! :):):):):):)
Bless all of U for offering to help Kristin and this WORTHY CAUSE.....because as scrappers.....we TRULY KNOW how important it is to all later in life to HAVE PHOTOS TO LOOK BACK ON!!!!!!! These kids sooooooo deserve this!!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):)

I would love to contribute.
Is there anyway you could have volunteers do some of these books for the children? Maybe scrapbooking groups?
I would be more than willing to do this. In fact, I might have to call my local DCFS and ask about this!!!
Please let me know your address I would love to send some stuff!

Hey Ladies here is my address again, Kristin Townsend- 9040 Summit Pointe Drive Springbor0, OH 45066
My phone number is 937-885-0483 or my cell is 937-604-9932 I can't answer my cell during work! But leave a message or PM me about anything!
Here is a list of what would be great to have:)
**Binders or Albums are fine with appropriate page protectors **I would like to give everyone a nice black marker to journal with, or other colors are fine **Paper **Adhesive **Scissors or paper cutters **Stamps and Ink Pads ( I think having a stamp that you could put date marks on a page would be nice so they might be able to put the year and date on things?) And anything else we collect will be wonderful. AM I missing anything? I am pretty sure those are the basics, let us all know if you think there should be something else added.
So you all know the conference isn't until September.
My group will help me pack it all for the case workers, extras are going to the counties to give to foster/adoptive parents. All is for the children to have thier foster family make the books or allow them to work on them!
Again I am overwhelmed by the love of my SISters, you are all my hero's

the entire box and maybe some of the other 30 plus women would love to join in -
Please feel free to give my address to anyone who would like to donate out of your group!
Actually, if you have friends that scrap and you wouldn't mind passing what we are doing along to others, and my address, that would help the cause as well!
We are going to bless so many children! This is a God thing, in my opinion! This is not just me doing this, you all are helping in more ways than I could ever imagine!

Is there anyway you could have volunteers do some of these books for the children? Maybe scrapbooking groups?
I am going to look into this as well! It would be great to see some completed pages, we do drawings at the conference and many teens win awards for all the work they do to help congress become aware of the issues with emancipation, having no where to go once your 18 and the system, in some areas, is just done with you. We could give those children some pages as well to add to their book. There would be many ways to give pages that are made already to the children. That is a GREAT IDEA!
Anyone that would like to do that please feel free to do that and if you send completed pages please mark on the package that these are completed pages so I can put them in a different area. I am gathering a lot of paper boxes so I can use them for sorting! This really will be fun!

"..no problem..dont forget to contact the radio stations in person and you can get on the air..that is a BIG BIG plus if you can"
Okay, I can help again. :)
My day job is radio, I have to feed and clothe my kids. :p
You need a Public Service Announcement. PSAs is a non commercial broadcast on an electronic medium. (radio/tv) This has to be for the public's good. You asking for donations for a good cause, is not an awareness persay~ but here is the link to the Ad Council giving you guidelines and ideas for just this!
If you need a :30 or :60 second commercial voiced & produced, I will do that for you FREE if I have a script emailed to me. I can get in the studio on Monday and whip one out- then email an mp3 back to you to give to your local media within the state.
Just log on to my website on my profile for my email and you'll see a "contact us" and it says, "all inquiries click here"
All my best,
Lynette

okay...
so... i did a little bit of asking and i have some cool news....
my (not so local) scrapbook store is having a big yard sale this month and whatever's left over is either picked up by the seller, or left at the store to be donated/trashed. WELL, i spoke with the lovely Sarah of Memory Lane PA and she said that she'd be more than happy for me to pick up the leftovers and donate it to you!!! YAY!!!!!!!

anyhoo...at the end of the swap..either in June or Dec we will get our original box back..I would love to donate mine - the entire box and maybe some of the other 30 plus women would love to join in - I dont really want or need my things back...and would love to help a good cause. I think that is wonderful what you are doing!!
ABSOLUTELY!! i was just going to suggest that. (thanks BIT! :D) and possibly even sooner than Dec., as most of the boxes are pretty full every month! we were trying to come up with solutions to get rid of the excess so that we could continue to purge our own stuff every month. i will post a link to this thread on my T2T thread!
AND... i have a couple of brand new albums i can donate! just let me know where to send! :)
